Over the past few weeks, I’ve had several people ask me about the commercials from CVS and the discussion around pharmacies in Tennessee.
As someone who works in healthcare every day, I want to share my perspective—not as a politician, but as someone who sees the system from the inside.
The truth is, healthcare has become complicated. Patients are often caught in the middle of decisions made by insurance companies, pharmacy benefit managers, and large corporations. Many people don’t realize that some of these companies operate across multiple parts of the system—from insurance to prescription pricing to the pharmacies themselves.
What I see every day are patients—especially seniors and those on fixed incomes—who are simply trying to afford the medications they need. Sometimes they’re confused. Sometimes they’re frustrated. And sometimes they’re forced to make difficult choices that no one should have to make.
I don’t claim to have all the answers. But I do believe this:
Healthcare decisions should put patients first.
We need a system that is fair, transparent, and focused on access—not one that leaves people feeling like they have nowhere to turn. Whether that means supporting local pharmacies, increasing transparency, or making sure large corporations are held accountable, we should always be asking one question:
Is this helping the patient? In my opinion, no.
As your candidate for Tennessee House District 35, I will continue listening, learning, and working toward practical solutions that make healthcare more accessible and more affordable for everyone in our community.
Because at the end of the day, this isn’t about politics—it’s about people.
