UPDATE: COMFORT KITCHEN GALION MEAL POSTPONED

With a heavy heart, we need to postpone tomorrow’s Comfort Kitchen meal in Galion.

We are so incredibly grateful for the donations that have come in—every single dollar goes directly toward feeding our community. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have enough funds to cover the food, packaging, and supplies needed to serve this meal. Currently, the Comfort Kitchen account has just $5 remaining.

Because of this, we are pausing all upcoming Comfort Kitchen meals until we’re able to secure additional funding.

If you feel called to help us continue this mission, donations can be made via Venmo (pinned at the top of our page). Every contribution—big or small—helps us get one step closer to serving again.

We want to be out there. We will be back. We just need a little help getting there.

❤️ Comfort Kitchen Update ❤️

It’s with a heavy heart that we want to share we will likely need to postpone this weekend’s Comfort Kitchen again.

We are so incredibly grateful for the monetary donations we’ve received — every dollar truly goes directly into feeding our community. Each meal we serve uses those funds in full, and right now we are in need of essential items like packaging, along with other supplies required to put on a proper meal.

At this moment, we currently have $5 in the Comfort Kitchen account, and until we’re able to do some additional fundraising, we’re unfortunately unable to move forward with upcoming meals.

This is not something we take lightly. We want to be out there serving — it’s what Comfort Kitchen is all about — but we simply can’t fund it entirely on our own.

🚨 Shelby Update from The Comfort Kitchen 🚨

We are so incredibly grateful for the support and donations we’ve received ❤️

At this time, we do not have enough funding to provide the Shelby meal the way it deserves, so we have made the decision to postpone this Saturday’s event.

We believe in doing this right—and that means making sure we can fully show up for the community.

⚠️ Weather Update for Caledonia Comfort Kitchen ⚠️

Friends, we were so excited to come feed Caledonia today, but unfortunately the weather has other plans. Severe thunderstorms with lightning are forecast to begin right around our scheduled start time, and safety has to come first.

Comfort Kitchen events happen outdoors, and Mike and I cannot safely serve meals while standing outside in lightning and severe storms. With the intense system moving through (the same one that caused tornado damage yesterday), we simply cannot risk it.

❤️ So we are postponing today’s Caledonia meal.

We promise we ARE still coming to feed you — we just need to wait for a safer day.

We’ll only be in Caledonia for one hour tomorrow — from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Meals are first come, first served, so if you or someone you know could use a warm meal, please come by during that time.

💛 Serving Our Community in More Ways Than One 💛

At Comfort Kitchen, our mission has always been simple — serve people well.

While many of our meals are offered freely to those in need, we also know that sometimes service looks different. Sometimes what people need most isn’t a hot meal… it’s help keeping up with everyday life.

Laundry can quickly become overwhelming for busy families, caregivers, working parents, or anyone walking through a demanding season of life.

Because we are service-minded people, we also offer The Folding Room, a local wash & fold laundry service created to make life a little easier. 🧺

While this service is not free, using The Folding Room directly helps support the ongoing service work and outreach efforts of Comfort Kitchen within our community.

Laundry Services Available:
✔️ Wash Only — $25 per basket
✔️ Wash & Fold — $35 per basket
✔️ Next-Day Turnaround — $40 per basket
✔️ Ironing — $5 per item
✔️ Towels & Bedding — $5 upcharge per basket
(due to extended washing and drying time)

🚗 Free pickup & delivery within 10 miles of Ontario
($10 beyond)

If laundry has gotten ahead of you, we’re here to help — just like always, in whatever way we can.

We’re The Comfort Kitchen, and our mission is simple:

We’ve met so many wonderful people lately, including folks in recovery and members of the community who don’t use social media. And since many of the local groups we post in are private (and we can’t always share a direct link), we wanted to make sure everyone knows who we are and what we do.

This event is especially meaningful to our family. We are doing this in honor of my grandfather, Donald Covert Sr. 🤍

• 1956 graduate of Mount Gilead

• Member of the undefeated 1956 Mount Gilead basketball team

• Played baseball for Mount Gilead

• Grew up on W. High Street

• Worked at the old HPM building in his younger years

• Founded Covert Manufacturing in Galion in 1967

His father, JD Covert, served as mayor for a short time and was principal of Mount Gilead Schools in the 1940s & 50s.

His mother, Georgiana Covert, worked in the Mount Gilead school cafeterias.

Grandpa passed away in September 2021, and his birthday is February 24. So this one is especially close to our hearts. 💛

Mount Gilead has been part of our family story for generations — and today, we get to give back.
