The Rotary Club of Niskayuna has asked for our help.

The Haiti Eye Clinic, founded by Niskayuna Rotarian Dr. Anshu Chandra, has provided more than 143,000 free eye exams and 7,300 advanced procedures to people in Haiti.

Now, the clinic needs a permanent home.

A generous Rotary Arch Klumph Society member has pledged up to $250,000 in matching funds through November 30. That means every dollar contributed toward the match can help unlock another dollar for the Haiti Eye Clinic.

🍺 Save the Date! Join the Rotary Club of Galesburg for Pints for Polio, on October 29th from 5:30 - 8:30 pm for an evening of great b**r, great company, and an even greater cause. Every dollar raised helps Rotary's fight to eradicate polio around the world.

There will be tip battles featuring guest bartenders from local organizations, a 50:50 drawing, and a silent auction with items from your favorite businesses.

Danielle Hulick Tansel, Recreation Supervisor for the City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation Department, with a concentration in aquatics, spoke to the Rotary Club of Galesburg on September 24, 2026, at it’s weekly meeting , held at 156 East Bar and Grill, in Downtown Galesburg, Illinois. She told our members about recent activities at the Hawthorne Pool and the Lakeside Pool. Danielle is from Galesburg and learned how to swim here. She recently moved bak to Galesburg with her husband and their 7 year old son.

The Rotary Club of Galesburg spent our weekly meeting packing period kits for Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank. Period Poverty is a global issue that many face accessing menstrual products. Loving Bottoms distributes supplies through a trusted network of local partner agencies, ensuring supplies reach those in need efficiently and respectfully. This week's member spotlight is Nikki Kreps Harrison!

As one of our newer Rotary members, Nikki has already discovered one of the best parts of being a Rotarian:

This week's Member Monday features Neal Miller, a dedicated Rotarian whose impact extends far beyond our club. Over the years, Neal has served in numerous leadership roles with both Galesburg Rotary and District Rotary, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to Service Above Self.

When asked why Rotary matters to him, Neal shared:

"I joined Rotary to meet new people, make new friends and serve others. I love Rotary because it has allowed me to make friends locally and around the world all while serving others. I believe in Rotary's Vision: 'Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change—across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.' Rotary has and continues to change me, making me the best person I can be."

Thank you, Neal, for your years of leadership, service, and dedication to making a difference in our community and throughout Rotary. Your passion for bringing people together and creating lasting change is an inspiration to us all. We are so thankful to have you in our club!

The Rotary Club of Galesburg celebrated the start of a new Rotary year on June 25 with the installation of President Abby Thomas and the club's 2026-2027 officers.

The ceremony recognized outgoing President Scott Carnes for his leadership and service while welcoming a new board committed to continuing Rotary's mission of making a difference in our community and around the world.

In her remarks, Abby reflected on the mentors, family members, friends, and fellow Rotarians who have shaped her journey.

"I am who I am because of the people that you are," she shared. "I believe that we can all have impact, and that this year my goal is to not only leave an impact on our community and around the world but also have what we do make a lasting impact on us as volunteers and global citizens."

Inspired by Rotary International's theme of creating lasting change, Thomas encouraged members to continue building on the club's strong tradition of service, leadership, and fellowship.

As the Rotary Club of Galesburg begins another year of service, we are confident that Abby's leadership will help support meaningful projects, and create lasting change.
