His Helping Hands Cat Rescue

His Helping Hands Cat Rescue We provide a loving and nurturing environment for the care and control of the feral and stray, homeless cat and kitten population in Galena, Illinois.

Our immediate, intermediate and long term intended goals will evolve as our organization grows, however as an overview these goals will be fulfilled through public fundraising as well as other philanthropic activities. For now we intend to:

1. Trap, alter, vaccinate and administer veterinary attention to feral (here the term means homeless) cats that are in the areas that we maintain.
2. Educate

our community in Galena as well as the surrounding areas by developing flier information to assist in the education of people in all aspects pertaining to the overpopulation of cats, the euthanasia statistics, and the most effective and humane way to reduce overpopulation.
3. Attend and speak at city council meetings to seize the attention of the citizens in our community regarding PROGRAMS needed that will effectively attain the aforementioned.
4. Educate and work with the residents themselves-discuss the need for their involvement and to discuss altering issues regarding their own personal pets.
5. Bringing information to schools so as to initiate the importance of responsible animal treatment with the most important group of people impacting the future, our children.
6. Establish contacts with local veterinary personnel that will assist at reasonable rates.
7. Research within Galena, a property that would be affordable for a feral haven. (This facility would be used to service vet care, tame and placements of once feral cats and kittens, nurture ill felines to health and to provide a home for the few that would not survive if released, but would otherwise live a healthy and happy life.)
8. Success in discussing and collectively agreeing with residents of Galena for the need to prepare the kittens and cats (that can be placed) for their new homes responsibly. (test for communicable diseases, administer all shots, alter and insert chips)
9. Obtain a facility, within our proximity, that meets the requirements of the city and is fully functional as previously mentioned.
10. Considerable reduction or elimination of euthanasia statistics associated with this issue. These goals of our TNR permanent no-kill shelter are on going and will be met with community support, His Helping Hands Rescue will forever be dedicated to serving the feral kitten and cat populations of Galena Illinois; with our commitment the residents of our community will find solace knowing that we are here loving and respecting all creatures great and small.

Here is our new gal Matilda. She was coming to my back door for a couple of weeks. Finally set a trap, took 3 days and she finally went in.Had no info on her , sent her to Madison for spay or neuter. Found she was about 3 yrs old, had already been spayed. She got a blood test, FIV negative. She is very quiet, has never hissed and allowed me to pet her head. Found out her left eye has to be removed, which we will do in a couple of weeks. Her temperment is very quiet, and very cautious, which tells me she once had a owner and was probably not treated right. It may take alittle time for her to come out of her shell, but we are patient. In the mean time she is in a 8 ft cage and spending most of her time in a house in the cage. I know when her trust issues are are relaxed she will be a great companion and will be looking for her forever home.

Belated MerryChristmas. We are so blessed that Gisel and her 6 babies all fond homes. The last one left onChristmas Eve. They all went to great homes. Sometimes this job of rescuing gets overwhelming but when I see the loving homes these fur babies get, it makes its worth while.

To make our jobs easier, please neuter or spay your pets. yo are doing them a favor as well as the great peo.ple that spend so much time and money to stop overpopulation .

Wishing you all a Happy New Year. Fill it with love and happiness.
