We are gathering to celebrate the life of our beautiful Mother, Wife & Grandmother, Diane Sipiera, on Saturday, May 2 from 1-4p at Harper College in Palatine, IL.

Join us this Friday for a special observatory night for PSF members and students!

🌕 WHEN: Friday, Nov. 8 from 7-10p

🌔 WHERE: The Henize Observatory located on the campus of Harper College in Palatine

🌓 WHY: To explore the nighttime sky and celebrate both Carl Sagan's 90th birthday (Sat, 11/9) and World Science Day for Peace & Development (Sun, 11/10)

🌒 RSVP: Not required to attend, but an RSVP to Andrea Nolan ([email protected]) for a general headcount is appreciated. This also helps in case we need to communicate any last-minute changes... especially weather-related ones!

🌑 IMPORTANT: To reach the main telescope, guests must be able to physically climb a 7-ft. ladder. In the past, a few personal telescopes have been set up on ground level, but that is not confirmed at the moment

🌖 WEATHER-PERMITTING: Given it will be November, you must come dressed to spend time outside. The observatory is not heated and the roof will be open. Layers make the most sense! If it looks like it will be more than 50% overcast or rain, the event will be rescheduled.

🌗 OTHER COOL INFO: The research-grade telescope will be focused on celestial bodies visible under the autumn sky: the First Quarter Moon, Saturn, Uranus, Jupiter, and Mars... this will make for an interesting night!!!

Come out this Saturday and join Jim Dole and Tom Dunmore for a nap spectacular evening that is out of this world.

Come join us for our 2nd open night of the 2024 season on Saturday, May 18th beginning at 8:00PM We will be discussing the recent Geomagnetic Storm as well as some of the Spring constellations. We will have a nice Waxing Gibbous moon to observe as well. Hope to see you there!
