Testimony Tuesday

There’s a reason God tells us to testify about His goodness. Sometimes the miracle looks like a healing, and sometimes it looks like faithful people showing up week after week to love others well.

The God’s Storehouse Golden Girls began serving back when we were still holding meals at Cornerstone Community Church, and they’ve never stopped. Through every season, they’ve served with compassion, faithfulness, and hearts full of love.

Tonight, they even welcomed our newest teammate, Beau, into their crew. The laughter in that serving line was contagious. Joy filled the room while meals were passed out, and it was such a beautiful reminder that ministry isn’t just about feeding people…it’s about making them feel seen, loved, and part of something bigger.

We thank God for people who quietly keep saying “yes.” Their testimony is written in every smile, every plate served, and every life touched. ❤️

** there are a few missing from this picture, but these ladies are wonderful. If you see them out in the community, please thank them putting their thumbprint on the lives of the people who eat at God’s Storehouse

Tonight’s meal was sponsored by A Team Real Estate Co - KW Galax and what a blessing it was!

If you see their team out and about, please thank them for sponsoring such a wonderful meal! We LOVE businesses that are community focused. The give back matters!

Chicken enchiladas, rice, chips and salsa, sour cream, and dessert filled the room tonight. More importantly, it reminded people they are loved, seen, and cared for.

Did you know your business, church, family, or friend group can sponsor a meal at God’s Storehouse? You can cook and serve, or simply sponsor it and let us do the rest!

And when you join our 100 for 100 Team, your faithful giving helps us continue feeding our community week after week.

It’s so much more than just a meal. ❤️

A huge thank you to JB Lawncare and Landscaping, LLC for blessing God’s Storehouse in such a big way!

They recently mulched our flower beds completely free of charge and also sponsored the last 100 turkeys for Thanksgiving. Their generosity and servant hearts have made a real impact on our community.

If you need landscaping or lawn care services, please remember JB Landscaping and support those who so faithfully support others. We are beyond grateful! ❤️

There is a special anointing in recovery rooms.

Last night, 58 people filled the room. Hands lifted. Voices worshipping God. Applause breaking out over and over as people walked up to receive their chips. Chips are beautiful markers of progress, courage, and freedom in recovery.

Beth White, our recovery chaplain, taught us something we won’t forget.

Popcorn starts as a tiny kernel. But with a little heat, butter, and salt, it becomes something people can’t ignore. Somebody always says, “That popcorn smells mighty good.”

That’s how recovery should be.

When someone is working their recovery, loving people well, staying accountable, and inspiring others, we’re going to say, “That popcorn smells mighty good.”

And when things start going sideways — when attitudes, choices, or old patterns start filling the room, we’re going to ask, “Do y’all smell burnt popcorn?”

Because burnt popcorn has a smell too.

Those two sentences became mantras for our group last night. Catchy. Funny. Accountable. Honest.

Recovery is not about never messing up. It’s about not quitting when you do. It’s about having people around you who love you enough to say, “Try it another way.”

You can’t lose if you don’t quit.

And last night, recovery smelled mighty good.

Mission Monday

A mom and dad walked through our doors this week with their four kids.

She had lost her job after staying home to care for their youngest who kept getting sick. He had been in a car accident and, against the doctor’s advice, was still working because he said, “I’ve got to put food on the table.”

A friend told them we might be able to help.
And we were ready. We’ve had a front row seat watching them sit together, laugh, and enjoy a home cooked meals with no stress, no worry, just family.

This is what community looks like.
Feel that tug to help more stories like this happen?
Join our 100/100 team

*100/100 means 100 people giving $100 a month for one year. Don’t have $100 our sweetest donation was 6 cent from a widow who had it left after paying her bills. Every cent helps.

It’s not one person doing everything, it’s a community saying, we’ve got this together.

What may look like three women sitting and talking is so much more.

When Savannah, the young woman in the middle, first walked into God’s Storehouse, her hands were shaking and her future felt uncertain. You could see it in her eyes… that mix of fear and hope that so many carry when they’re standing at the edge of change.

She was a perfect fit for Miss Clair’s Recovery House for Women, led by Annette Brown.

Miss Clair’s isn’t just a house….it’s a legacy.

The name comes from Annette’s grandmother, Miss Clair, a woman known throughout the community for opening her doors to anyone in need. If you were hungry, she fed you. If you were hurting, she sat with you. If you had fallen, she helped you find your footing again. That kind of love leaves a mark and Annette carries that same spirit today.

Through the generosity of her family, Elizabeth Bryson and Eric Bryson, who now own their grandmother’s home and graciously allowed God’s Storehouse to use it, that legacy is still alive and changing lives.

Miss Clair’s is a 13-month recovery program for women who have walked through active addiction and are ready to rebuild. It’s not easy work. It’s daily. It’s intentional. It’s choosing, over and over again, to do things differently. And through it all, Annette is there.

Faithful. Consistent. Steady.

No matter the trial, no matter the setback…she shows up.

She pours out everything she has into these women, believing in them sometimes before they can believe in themselves. She doesn’t just offer a place to stay, she offers structure, accountability, and love rooted in something deeper. A reminder that their story isn’t over.

And what you’re seeing in that moment… those three women sitting together?

That’s healing.
That’s legacy.
That’s what it looks like when someone answers the call and gives everything they’ve got to God and trusting Him to do the rest.

If you see Annette out in our community, please thank her for her obedience to Jesus and please add Ms Clair’s House to your prayer list. Ministry isn’t easy and encouraging the people in the trenches gives them the strength to keep working.

Meet the Bontrager Family. ❤️

They first called last year after hearing they could prepare and serve a meal for our guests—and they’ve been showing up ever since, month after month, with full hearts and incredible food.

Tonight, they went all out using our deep fryer to make hot, fresh French fries alongside BBQ sandwiches, homemade slaw, baked beans, and a vanilla strawberry cake that absolutely melted in your mouth.

But it’s not just the meal… it’s the love behind it. The consistency. The willingness to show up and serve.

If you want to know what obedience to God looks like, it looks like this family.

If you know them or see them out, please thank them for showing the heart of Jesus in such a beautiful way.

So thankful for this foundation and all that they do for the Twin Counties. Without their generous donation to Gods Storehouse our food boxes wouldn’t be as nice as they are.
