The Brown Kids Book Club

The Brown Kids Book Club A place for children and teens to explore books by and for African American literature. First, they didn't see reading as a form of entertainment.

Growing up in Harlem, NY, my teachers made an extra effort to share wonderful stories about African American people and to keep us excited about reading. As the eldest child in my family, I noticed a couple of things with my youngest siblings. In addition, the African American representation found in their school books was slim to none. After reading many articles on this topic, I decided to creat

e this space for today's youth. The Brown Kids Book Club is a place for children and teens to explore books by and for African Americans. In joining our book club, the youth can develop a passion for reading! With the help of BKBC, children can learn about many books written by and about our people. In addition, they can discuss these books with their peers, share book reports, upload creative writing pieces or essays, and win prizes for achieving reading goals. Reading is fun! It is my goal to hear this very exclamation from all children who reach this site. Warmly,

Miss Tai
