Looking for a fun and sensory-friendly outing this weekend? 🚂

The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum hosts Sensory Friendly Days throughout the year for children and guests with autism and sensory processing differences. The museum opens one hour early at 10:00 AM on designated Sundays, with additional staff and volunteers on hand to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Sensory kits, fidgets, stress balls, noise-canceling headphones, feeling charts, and a designated quiet room are all available to guests.

The next one is this Sunday, June 7! This month's theme is Under the Sea, featuring a "Create Your Own Sand Globe" activity, an Environmental Impacts tour, and community partners who support individuals and families throughout Maryland. Visitors can also enjoy sensory-friendly train rides and explore the museum at their own pace.

Did you know the National Aquarium in Baltimore offers special access options for guests with disabilities? 🐠🌊

Through their First Saturdays and Sundays program, guests with disabilities and their parties can enter 30 minutes before the Aquarium opens on the first Saturday and first Sunday of every month for a more relaxed, crowd-free experience. Guests with special needs and their parties can also purchase express and early entry tickets at the Member Entrance for immediate access.

It's a wonderful way to enjoy one of the region's most iconic attractions at your own pace!

Spending time outdoors is one of the best parts of summer 🌿☀️

After celebrating Great Outdoors Month yesterday, today is a great reminder to stay safe while enjoying nature because it’s also Insect Repellent Awareness Day! 🦟

Whether you’re hiking, visiting a park, paddle boating, gardening, or simply relaxing outside, insect repellent can help protect against mosquito and tick bites during the warmer months.

A few simple tips for outdoor adventures:
🧴 Use insect repellent when spending time outside
👕 Wear light-colored clothing and long sleeves when possible
🌳 Stay on marked trails and avoid tall grass
💧 Stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade
🩺 Check for ticks after spending time outdoors

Pasar tiempo al aire libre es una de las mejores partes del verano 🌿☀️

Después de celebrar ayer el Mes de las Grandes Actividades al Aire Libre, hoy es un gran recordatorio para mantenerse seguro mientras disfrutamos de la naturaleza, ya que también es el Día de Concientización sobre el Repelente de Insectos 🦟

Ya sea caminando por senderos, visitando un parque, paseando en bote de pedales, trabajando en el jardín o simplemente relajándose afuera, el repelente de insectos puede ayudar a proteger contra las picaduras de mosquitos y garrapatas durante los meses más cálidos.

June is Great Outdoors Month, a time to enjoy fresh air, explore nature, and make new memories outside 🌿☀️

Recently, Josh and his staff member Gideon spent the day at Black Hill Regional Park in Germantown enjoying the outdoors together. From paddle boating on the lake to hiking and taking in the scenery, it was a day full of adventure, friendship, and fun.

Spending time outside can be a great way to relax, stay active, connect with others, and appreciate the beauty all around us. Whether it’s visiting a local park, going for a walk, or trying something new outdoors, even small adventures can create meaningful moments. 💙

We love seeing our community members explore new experiences and build confidence while having fun along the way.

Junio es el Mes de las Grandes Actividades al Aire Libre, un momento para disfrutar del aire fresco, explorar la naturaleza y crear nuevos recuerdos afuera 🌿☀️

Nothing beats a cool treat and good company on a warm summer day ☀️🍧💧

Today, our Social Media Group spent some time outside enjoying the sunshine, taking photos, sharing laughs, and cooling down at the Hydration Station here at CSS. From cold drinks and popsicles to great conversations and smiling faces, it was a wonderful afternoon spent together.

Moments like these are a reminder that happiness can be found in the simple things — friendship, fresh air, community, and making memories together. 💙

As the weather gets warmer and sunnier, it’s important to remember simple ways to stay safe while still enjoying all the fun that summer has to offer.

Today was a big day for the CSS Theater Exploration Group! 🎭✨

Our performers took the stage at the Arts Barn in Gaithersburg and shared the creativity, teamwork, and hard work they've been building throughout the program. Watching everyone grow, support one another, and truly shine up there was something special.

A huge round of applause to Brian, Caitlin, Derric, Casey, Stephen, Rodrigo, Conrad, Kevin, Edward, Jared, James, Jeremy, Arianna, Alicia, and Will for putting on such a wonderful show!

We are so proud of the courage, dedication, and joy each person brought to the stage. And thank you to everyone who came out to support them. Your encouragement helped make today extra special.

The Theater Exploration Group meets regularly at the Arts Barn, and every session these incredible performers bring so much energy and heart. Today was a beautiful reminder of what this community is all about.

¡Hoy fue un gran día para el Grupo de Exploración Teatral de CSS! 🎭✨

Nuestros artistas subieron al escenario en el Arts Barn en Gaithersburg y compartieron la creatividad, el trabajo en equipo y el esfuerzo que han estado desarrollando a lo largo del programa. Ver a todos crecer, apoyarse mutuamente y brillar de verdad fue algo muy especial.

Today, many Muslim families around the world are celebrating Eid al-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice.” 🌙✨

Eid al-Adha is a time centered around faith, compassion, generosity, and community. Families and friends gather to share meals, spend time together, give to those in need, and celebrate with loved ones.

At CSS, we love learning about the different cultures, traditions, and celebrations that make our community so special. Taking time to recognize holidays like Eid helps us build understanding, connection, and inclusion for everyone.

To all who are celebrating, we wish you a joyful and peaceful Eid filled with love, laughter, and togetherness. 💙

Did you know the Kennedy Center offers sensory-friendly performances? These shows are designed to be a welcoming, comfortable experience for people with autism, sensory sensitivities, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and anyone who benefits from a more relaxed theater environment. That can mean lower sound levels, designated quiet spaces, relaxed house rules, and the freedom to move around as needed.

The next one is Sunday, June 28 at 11:00 AM. This is a perfect summer outing for families and community members looking for a more accessible arts experience!
