Three pending policy actions would fundamentally undermine land conservation in Florida.

Think Florida’s conservation lands are protected? Think again.

New legislation (SB 290 & HB 433) could allow thousands of acres of taxpayer-funded conservation land to be sold into private ownership for agricultural use. These bills have already cleared Senate committees and could pass the full Legislature as early as this Friday.

Even lands bought through Florida Forever could be liquidated, replacing permanent conservation with agricultural easements that allow conversion to intensive uses like row crops. This sets a dangerous precedent for the future of Florida’s parks, forests, and wildlife lands.
