FWC has started spraying hyacinth on the Santa Fe River. Our Santa Fe River had two events in the last five months to manually remove the invasive nuisance plant. We prefer manual removal to introducing chemicals to the water and allowing the dying plants to decay on the river bottom. Even though we did not remove enough of the plant to convince
FWC that spraying was not needed, our efforts successfully reduced the amount of chemicals being used and the volume of decaying plants in our precious river.
