Here are a few quick reminders to share with kids as they head back to school and spend more time walking around the community:

1. Use crosswalks and sidewalks!

2. Look right, left, and right again before crossing the street.

3. Make eye contact with any drivers at the crosswalk before crossing the street.

4. If listening to music, remove headphones or lower the volume before crossing the street.

5. Use a cellphone only in a safe area, away from traffic.

This week, we're excited to spotlight Michael "Mikey" Langieri with Sun Country Sports Center!

At Sun Country, safety is more than a priority, it's one of their core values.

"One of the ways Sun Country helps keep kids and families safe is by teaching proper technique and safety in trampoline, tumbling, gymnastics, dance, ninja, and climbing through our instructional classes and competitive teams. If more parents and children were aware of a few basic safety rules and techniques when participating in these activities outside of the gym, many injuries and medical visits could be prevented. We're also proud to teach swimming lessons for children of all ages in collaboration with Swim America of Gainesville, which is especially important in Florida, where water activities are such a big part of life."

Safety and community involvement are at the heart of everything Sun Country does, and Mikey and his team are passionate about helping children grow, learn, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

We're also excited to congratulate Sun Country on recently renewing its national accreditation through the Council on Accreditation (COA), a distinction that recognizes the organization as one of the highest-quality child and youth development providers in the country!
