For over 50 years, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, in partnership with March of Dimes, has been committed to reducing infant mortality and ensuring healthier pregnancies through Stork’s Nest 💙👶🏾

This life-changing program provides prenatal education, resources, and incentives to encourage expectant mothers to seek early and consistent prenatal care, improving birth outcomes for Black mothers and babies.

Every mother deserves a safe, healthy pregnancy and a strong support system — and Stork’s Nest is here to help make that a reality. Participants enroll in our interactive self-paced prenatal education course and in return, the clients earn incentives such as maternity or baby care items through a variety of positive, health-promoting activities. There are more than 80 Nests throughout the country.

Maternal Health Awareness Day is a reminder that this is not just a statistic — it is a crisis. Mothers deserve to be heard, protected, and supported every time. Access to quality care, advocacy, and culturally competent support should never depend on zip code, because maternal health is a human right.

Across the country, and especially in rural and underserved communities, our Black mothers continue to face systemic barriers to care that cost lives. Through intentional service, policy advocacy, and strategic partnerships, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is confronting these inequities head-on. Justice and advocacy has always been our charge, for decades, Zeta’s Stork’s Nest® initiative, in partnership with the March of Dimes, has worked to improve birth outcomes by providing education, resources, and support to expectant mothers and families most in need.

The Power of S.H.E. Community Blueprint is not a moment, it is a continuous movement.

It's World Prematurity Day!💜
One of the most powerful treatments a newborn can receive is skin-to-skin contact with a parent. , or KMC, is the continuous and prolonged skin-to-skin contact with the parent. KMC simple enough to implement in hospitals from low- to high-income areas of the world, and the benefits of KMC are well documented and includes:

•Improved thermal regulation
•Infection prevention
•Improved breastmilk production and let-down
•Positive facilitation of physiological, behavioural, psychosocial, and neurodevelopmental effects
•A reduced risk of neonatal mortality by 40%.

Every parent wants a healthy baby. But it doesn’t always happen that way. Too many babies die each year because they were born too small and too soon. Premature birth is the leading cause of death for newborns in the US and is the leading cause of death for children under 5 worldwide.

One in every ten babies is born too soon in our country. The rate is even higher for African-American women. We need to change this. Together we can help more babies be born healthy and strong.
