A story that started with an idea finally made its way to the big screen.
On Sunday, August 30, 2026, students from Filming with a Purpose gathered at The Hippodrome Theatre for the screening of Jelly Beans, a film they wrote, shot, and directed themselves.
Getting there took more than having a good idea. They learned the filmmaking process, worked together, made creative decisions, solved problems, and stayed with the project until they could finally sit in an audience and watch their work come to life.
That moment was worth celebrating.
So was the room around them. Families, friends, partners, supporters, and community members came together to celebrate the students and the work they had put into bringing Jelly Beans to the screen.
Filming with a Purpose is about giving young people the opportunity to explore filmmaking while using storytelling to engage with the issues and experiences that matter to their generation. Jelly Beans gave these students the chance to do exactly that, from the first idea to the finished film.
We are incredibly proud of our young filmmakers and grateful to everyone who helped make this experience possible.
The film made it to the screen. The students made it happen. And this album captures some of the moments that made the day one to remember.
