Today we’re recognizing one of our PLTW Program Graduates, Brycelynn! 🎓🌊

Over the last four years, Brycelynn has been a huge part of our engineering pathway and the high-school robotics team, Roaring Riptide. From engineering projects and competitions to helping create impact far beyond our classroom walls through outreach and STEM advocacy, her dedication has left a lasting ripple on this program and community.

We are also excited to share that Brycelynn will be continuing her journey at the Florida Institute of Technology this fall! We cannot wait to see all the amazing things she accomplishes next.

No matter where life takes her, she will always be part of the PK and Riptide family. 💙

“AccessiAnimal: Octopal” 🐙
“Sprout Smart” 🌱
“Left Align” ✍️

Three very different ideas, with one shared goal: solving everyday problems through the engineering design process.

From improving accessibility to stuffed animal nightlights, to sustainable plant care in small areas, to helping left-handed people write without smudging their work, our seniors are designing solutions you’re going to want to see!

Capstone presentations have launched! 🚀

PR2 (The Critical Design Review) isn’t just a checkpoint for the Engineering Senior Capstone Class. It’s where students validate design requirements, share design decisions, and prepare for the next steps of prototyping, testing, and evaluating their chosen design solutions.

Our Intro to Engineering Design students recently wrapped up their Trammel Toy Project and they absolutely crushed it!

Students began by modeling and simulating a “Do Nothing Machine” in Onshape, then put their skills from Units 1 and 2 to work using real trammel parts and hardware. They measured components with dial calipers, attempted initial assembly, and quickly realized modifications were needed to create a fully functional prototype.

After modeling all required parts, importing hardware from McMaster, and developing a technical drawing portfolio, students used assembly constraints to create a working digital prototype. They then 3D printed their designs and analyzed fit and function to apply their understanding of tolerances, version control, and documenting design decisions.

This project was not just about building. It was about understanding how things work, improving designs, and thinking like engineers. We are proud of the problem solving, teamwork, and grit these students showed throughout the process!

Our PLTW Introduction to Engineering Design students leveled up their creativity with “Design a Game” projects! From concept sketches to 3D modeling and prototypes, they applied the engineering design process to bring their ideas to life 💡. Innovation, problem-solving, and a whole lot of fun!

Special thanks to our Admin Team for visiting with our teams during Gallery Walk and Game Day!
