Doxie Tales Rescue, Inc.

Doxie Tales Rescue, Inc. Doxie Tales Rescue, Inc is a Dachshund Rescue, 501C3 not for profit organization. We save lives by fostering, vetting & finding wonderful homes for doxies.

Located in N FL. Doxie Tales Rescue, Inc is a dachshund rescue based out of N Central FL. We are a not for profit, 501C3 Charity, operated by volunteers, lead by President, Ginger, and a great team. We also have other Board members and a diverse professional Support Committee. Most importantly, we have a team of foster moms and dads who are simply unparalleled! We rescue dachshunds from life threa

tening and/or unfortunate situations. Our goal in many cases is to prevent them from entering the animal control/shelter system. Once rescued, we provide them with ALL vet care needed and foster them in our homes, going far above and beyond a warm bed and food! Once we feel they are ready, we have a diligent process of finding them the right forever home. Vetting rescued dogs is very expensive. It is not appropriate for us to ask all money to be donated. There are a FEW times when our adoption fee is more than our "financial investment" in a specific dog. But in most cases, the adoption fee is much less than our "financial investment" in a specific dog. Many dogs cost us hundreds to thousands of dollars in vetting fees alone. We spay/neuter (unless the doxie is too young,) provide dentals if needed, vaccinate, microchip, deworm, give heartworm prevention (or treatment) and provide all vet care, procedures or surgery that is advised by our selected Veterinarians. When adopting a rescued dog from Doxie Tales, you are supporting our rescue - not just the single dog you are adopting. We do not negotiate on adoption fees - SO PLEASE DO NOT ASK. My name is Ginger and I am the founder of Doxie Tales. My husband's name is Pete and he also sits on our board and is a tremendous help to the rescue. We love being a part of wonderful team of people who help precious dachshunds in need. Thank you to our friends for being a very important part of Doxie Tales and supporting our mission! Love, Ginger from Doxie Tales

Hi everyone. I apologize for the length of time since I’ve posted. Life has certainly presented difficult challenges. We are not rescuing at this time. I simply do not have the time or the energy it takes. I’m sorry. I’m at a place in life where family is my priority. We are keeping our rescue license active and hope to rescue again. Pete and I send you our love and ask that you keep our families in your prayers.

Merry Christmas! As you all know, it’s been a really difficult year for me. My dad has been very sick. (He had an unfortunate very bad reaction to one vaccine shot.) We will never give up. We continue to go to specialist and have several new appointments scheduled in Jan. Doctors are becoming more helpful which is huge! In many ways, this is the best Christmas ever, because I still have my daddy. I’m so grateful for that. We have a very small family and we are all together. I know that is an incredible blessing. I love our team members, Diane, Tina, Tisha and Mary who have been AMAZING to carry on the mission of our rescue so that I can spend time daily with my dad.

A Christmas story for you.

Pete and I live in S GA now, on our family farm. It’s rural here! Sadly, we have no animal control. I manage a local lost and found pet page. I posted a GORGEOUS 1 year old cream lab, found in the middle of the highway, dodging traffic. I contacted the local vets, the closest animal control, neighbors, posted online…… no one came. The only local option is - they put “strays” to sleep. Pete and I can not turn our backs on an animal. She was terrified. So were we! How would this big dog do with our dachshunds?? We kept Sugar while searching for her owners and she is still with us. She thinks she’s a Doxie! Pete and I paid for her vetting and thankfully, she’s a very healthy girl! I will now be searching for a perfect home for her. But in the meantime, she is safe and very content.

We are blessed because of all of you. Your prayers, your shares, your kindness, your adoptions, your donations….. without YOU, the hundreds of dachshunds we have saved would not be possible! And in the midst of a personal “family crises” you all kept supporting us so we could continue to save more! THANK YOU!
Wish each of you a very Merry Christmas! Much Love,
Ginger from Doxie Tales

Hi all. I thank you all so much for your understanding and kindness. I will do a brief personal recap and then a more detailed post on the pups we have in rescue.

My dad is my hero. He got one vaccine shot about 9 months ago and has not been well since. Prior, he was a very healthy man. He was the proper weight, walked 2.5 miles a day and worked 6 days a week on our family farm. We have officially moved from FL and are now on the farm, waiting to build our home. Right now, my priority is my daddy. He has been to many specialist. He has had so many tests, scans, bloodwork…. No diagnoses. We are waiting on the results of a muscle biopsy now.

Basically after the injection his legs, then arms, began to ache and he suffered with pain. Simultaneously, his muscles began to quickly atrophy. My dad was a weight lifter, and he still had an great physique. He has shriveled 🥲 up. He can still ambulate and he fights hard daily. He is exhausted all the time. His arms and legs don’t work as they should. He falls. It’s so sad and difficult to watch. With that said, we continue to try and find help. The list of all we have done is LONG and it includes both traditional medicine and doctors and those who are into healing, natural and functional medicine. And most importantly, we pray. I believe God is our almighty healer and He can and will heal my daddy.

I want to thank Diane, Tina, Tisha and Mary for making certain our rescue has not skipped a beat. How blessed I am to have such incredible women helping. Diane, in particular, has taken a lead in making certain each Doxie we have, received ALL medical care needed. And we actually have done A LOT! We currently have Sarah, Ruby, Rudy, and Miss Pat. ALL were in bad shape when we got them. They ALL have had needed surgeries and are doing great. The last two times I requested money, you all came through big time! I did have a vet balance and was reluctant to take Pat from the shelter bc of my personal circumstances and bc of funds. But our team and all of you came through! We have no vet balance and all Miss Pat needed was done! SO many donated small amounts and it added up! Others donated larger amounts. Each dollar was a heart gift to help these precious dachshunds we save. I can never thank you enough! I will shortly post an update on each dog. All great news!

Please do not comment on the vaccine. What happened to my dad is factual. It’s not political. We have encountered plenty of pure hate on this difficult journey, simply bc of what caused his illness. THAT IS RIDICULOUS and all people should come together in love and stop all this stupid hatred and arguing over things that simply don’t matter. No one should have to experience what my father and our family is going through. Not only the illness but the meanness we have received simply bc we say the words “adverse reaction to the vaccine.” So if you post a negative opinion on that subject, I’ll block you. I can’t take any more.

I’m so grateful to my friends here. I love you and appreciate you. Doxie Tales Rescue is moving forward. I’m not on here much, but I hope to be back more frequently after my daddy is healed. Thank you.
❤️ Ginger from Doxie Tales

Miss Pat headed to surgery at Sixth Street Vet hospital. We love our vets and vet tech friends!

Important dog food info. FROM THE DOG FOOD ADVISOR:

I just updated an article I originally wrote back in 2009. It's about an important subject that negatively affects a lot more dogs and their owners than any product recall.

And I feel like its such a critical topic that I needed to share it with you as soon as I could.

For years now…

A loophole in U.S. labeling law has allowed pet food manufacturers to intentionally manipulate the order of the ingredients on a label.

It's a little-known labeling trick known as ingredient splitting that can be used to mislead shoppers.

And it's all completely legal.

Now…

I don't want you (or your dog) to become a victim of this kind of marketing misinformation.

Which is why I decided to update the original article:

Ingredient Splitting - Deceptive Dog Food Labeling Trick

In my latest version of this report, I share the answer to the most frequent questions I get about this important subject.…

In the article, you'll learn:

What is ingredient splitting?

How to spot this deceptive trick so you can protect yourself and your dog from the harm caused by misleading marketing claims.

What to look for on a label that's much more revealing about a dog food than the first ingredient alone?

What are some of the most common signs of ingredient splitting?
Read the article

Learn how ingredient splitting allows a dog food company to trick you into believing there's more meat in a recipe than there actually is.

Look at sweet Miss Pat go. She has so many staples and stitches in her belly and is blind. But she is determined and happy! She is one of our miracle doxies. I don’t know how she went from not ambulating with her rear legs when she first arrived at the shelter to this.... she is still wobbly but gets around fine and is in NO pain!! That HBOT chamber is so awesome! Thank you to Mary (one of my favorite vet techs of all times) and her son Brandon, for fostering!

Guess who is going to her foster home? PAT!! She’s been examined, spayed, had her mammary masses removed and received several HBOT treatments. Her bloodwork was great and she is Heartworm negative. She is blind but gets around great. THANK YOU Mary for agreeing to foster Pat! Mary is one of our favorite vet techs! Thank you Diane for all you do behind the scenes to make everything happen!

I don’t have a picture of Pat for you, but wanted to let you know that she is doing great! If you don’t know what Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is, please look it up. (HBOT) It’s a miracle worker when major healing and pain relief is needed. Pat is being well cared for. She’s found her voice too, lol. Gotta love a talkative Dachshund! There will never be the right words to express our appreciation. With your help, we truly saved Pat’s life. Please keep praying all the masses come back negative. Below is the HBOT CHAMBER she gets in.
THANK YOU! ❤️ Ginger from Doxie Tales

Pat update:
She’s doing great! SHE’S VERY SPECIAL. WE THINK SHE’S A RARE “SPINAL WALKER.” At this preliminary stage we do not believe her spine IVDD incident was recent. Possibly an old disc herniation/rupture. She was most likely paralyzed in both back legs at some point and never regained sensory function to the pelvic limbs. She is “deep pain negative” and has no feeling in her rear legs. Despite this, we believe she has developed spontaneous motor recovery and has gained sufficient function in her pelvic limbs to WALK!!! This type of ambulation is commonly known as “spinal walking” and can take up to a year or more to learn. WOW! They walk funny, but they walk! Pat must have been a very determined girl!

Pat also had extensive surgery. She was spayed and had multiple mammary tumors removed. Our vet sent the masses to the lab for testing. We will know more on Monday. She is blind, but this is not new, and she gets around just fine. She will need a dental, but later. Pat is going to LOVE the HBOT treatments she is going to have over the weekend at Sixth Street Vet Hospital.

We have many xrays and the doctors continue to assess. But she is safe, being well taken care of, and in no pain! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH TO ALL WHO GAVE SUCH A KIND GIFT! LIFE!! We can now provide what ever is needed for Pat to live a great quality of life.
