Congrats to our endorsed candidates Certain, Ward, Crabbe, Willits, and Rockwell who all won their primaries on Tuesday night.
Hunter Miller was way ahead in his School Board race, 45% to Janine Plavac's 35%, but the winner must receive 50%+1. So, he will face a runoff against Plavac in the 11/3 general election.
The Mayor's, City Commissioners', County Judge Group 5, and other School Board races are all nonpartisan and were decided on the 8/18 primary.
This is what we will be voting on in the 11/3 general election.

The Florida LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus is joining the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida in one of the most ambitious voter engagement efforts in our history. Our goal is to connect with 250,000 Democratic voters in just 10 days, and we cannot accomplish this without the support of our chapters, coalition partners, and friends across Florida.

If you're receiving this email, it's because I believe in your leadership and your ability to help make a difference.

I'm asking you to help us recruit and organize others- and that you join our statewide phone bank. We need 15 volunteers each day to participate in the statewide phone bank from August 8 through August 17, 2026.

If every chapter and every partner organization answers this call, together we will build a powerful statewide operation that reaches voters in every corner of Florida.

Statewide Phone Bank
πŸ“… August 8–17, 2026
πŸ•• Every evening from 6:00–8:00 p.m. EDT

Whether your volunteers are experienced phone bankers or participating for the first time, we'll provide everything they need to be successful.

I know everyone is busy, and I don't make personal requests lightly. But I truly need your help on this one. If you cannot just join but help us recruit more volunteers, the collective impact across our statewide network will be extraordinary.

Lauren Groff could have done the safe thing, which for a National Book Award finalist living quietly in Gainesville is to write books and stay out of it.

Instead she opened a bookstore and filled it with the titles her own state keeps pulling off school shelves. The Lynx opened in 2024. "Gender Q***r", the most-banned book in the country, sold out on the first day.

Groff is 48 today and bisexual, which she has said plainly and without ceremony. She said it while explaining why the abbess at the center of her novel Matrix is in love and in lust with a queen: "I'm bisexual, so it wasn't writing out of non-experience. It was just necessary in her character from the beginning."

The store now runs a Banned Books Book Club. It has featured Gender Q***r and Flamer, both of which come off Florida school shelves on a regular basis.

Which is to say her own state keeps handing her more material than she ever asked for.
