Dear Fellow Florida Chapter Alumni,

Delta Chi Foundation’s (DCF) annual Founder’s Day of Giving campaign has begun. Because I believe strongly in the Foundation’s mission, I have agreed to be the Florida Chapter’s champion for this year’s campaign. To express my commitment, I have already made my gift to the campaign. I am writing to ask you to join me in this effort.

DCF funds scholarships, leadership training, and the life-changing Delta Chi experience. During this campaign, we are asking our alumni brothers to invest in the next generation. DCF develops, manages, and stewards the financial resources that help Delta Chi men earn a sound education and lead with character — on campus and beyond.

Cutting edge programs such as the Regional Leadership Academy, Convention, and the National Inter-Fraternity Council’s award-winning Dale Carnegie Scholars program directly benefit the Florida Chapter -- building better leaders, higher retention, and a stronger Brotherhood. Over the last five years, DCF has awarded $1.7 million in scholarships and grants, benefiting more than 20,000 undergraduate brothers.

Making a gift is easy, and every gift matters. You can give at www.deltachi.org/foundersday; or by texting the Florida Chapter’s keyword (DeltaChi2026) to 71777; or mail a check to Delta Chi Foundation, 3845 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208. If sending a check, please inform Jason Sisk at [email protected], so that your gift can be credited on the Florida Chapter giving page.

I thank you for your favorably consideration of this request to support the Delta Chi Foundation’s efforts.

In the Bond (and Go Gators!),

Don Turk
FL’68, OWC

From October 12–13, we’ll unite for 1,890 Minutes of Giving—a powerful tradition that honors our past, strengthens our present, and secures the future of Delta Chi.

Congratulations to our Award of Excellence Winners. Every year, Delta Chi recognizes the highest-performing chapters and provisional chapters in the Red and Buff divisions. These chapters and provisional chapters demonstrated outstanding performance in Delta Chi’s core competencies (Promote Friendship, Develop Character, Advance Justice, and Assist in the Acquisition of a Sound Education) and received the highest overall scores for the academic year.
These awards serve as finalists for the President's Cup, which will be announced later this month. To these outstanding Brothers, we congratulate you and wish you luck in the running for the President's Cup.

The International Chapter Call will take place on August 28th at 8:30 p.m. ET (7:30 p.m. CT | 5:30 p.m. PT). Delta Chi’s Order of the White Carnation turns 50

Delta Chi’s Order of the White Carnation was first awarded 50 years ago this month during the 1975 Convention at the Drake Hotel in Chicago. Last week, members of the Delta Chi Foundation’s Trustee Society visited the Drake Hotel to commemorate the event. Florida Chapter has had four brothers award the OWC: Russ Driscoll, FL’57; Keith Shriver, FL’79; John Micas, FL’67; and Don Turk, FL’68.

From the 1975 Convention Minutes:

The first award of the Order of the White Carnation shall be to Victor T. Johnson, now chairman of the Educational Foundation. Brother Johnson was the first pledge to be initiated by the then newly chartered Purdue Chapter. He has aided and helped create and install several chapters. He has attended numerous regional conferences. He has consistently attended the Conventions of the Fraternity. He is the one person now most responsible for the continuing progress of the Educational Foundation. And he has consistently and generously contributed his time, effort, and funds to the Educational Foundation since its inception about twenty years ago.

Further, Vic has never received nor sought any national office or recognition. HiB labors for Delta Chi have been consistently meritorious and consistently unpublicized and inconspicuous. Accordingly, we now call Victor T. Johnson before the Convention, confer upon him the degree of Order of the White Carnation, require the sergeant at arms to pin a White Carnation upon his lapel, and we now charge this convention, all future conventions, chapters, conferences and all formal gatherings of the Fraternity to pin a White Carnation upon the lapel of Victor T. Johnson, whenever he be in attendance, in order to honor him and to the end that his many meritorious and inconspicuous services to Delta Chi no longer remain unnoticed.

Finally, we suggest that the motto of the Order of the White Carnation be the Latin word "succurri," which, translated, means "I ran to help" and is the appropriate response to our ritualistic cry for help.

To our many Hole Sponsors and Players, a great THANK YOU! We again reached our goal and were able to donate $10,444 to the Delta Chi Foundation. This year's distribution benefitted 12 different Delta Chi Chapter Scholarship Accounts and the DCF General Fund. To date, the tournament has donated more than $116,000 for the Foundation to be awarded to Delta Chi undergraduate in the form of academic scholarships and leadership development grants.
