Check out the great work being done at Riddling Grove in Melrose, FL! The The Grove Shack & Noah’s purpose - a local farm stand and food truck supports adults with disabilities through meaningful job opportunities.
"Our purpose has never been about hamburgers, fish baskets, or milkshakes. It’s about people. It’s about believing in someone until they believe in themselves. It’s about teaching skills that go far beyond the walls of our food truck. It’s about giving someone confidence, purpose, and the opportunity to say, “I can do this.”"
Hey y’all…
I just need to be real for a minute.
I want to brag on one of our boys. Devin is pretty new to us, but he has already become such a big part of our Grove Shack family. Today he texted me a video of himself frying chicken at home to cook dinner for his family. He was proud of what he had learned, and he wanted to share that moment with me.
If I’m being honest, these last couple of months have almost broken me. It seems like every time we turn around, something else happens. The food truck almost caught on fire because of an electrical issue. Then our refrigerator and freezer both burned up. We were in a car accident. One thing after another. It’s been exhausting emotionally, physically, and financially.
There have been days I’ve questioned everything. I’ve wondered if this dream is just too big. If maybe we’re supposed to stop. If everything we’re sacrificing is really making a difference.
Then my phone buzzed with that video.
It wasn’t just a video of someone cooking dinner. It was a reminder of why we started this journey in the first place.
Our purpose has never been about hamburgers, fish baskets, or milkshakes.
It’s about people.
It’s about believing in someone until they believe in themselves. It’s about teaching skills that go far beyond the walls of our food truck. It’s about giving someone confidence, purpose, and the opportunity to say, “I can do this.”
We’re not doing this to get rich. The truth is, we’re not. Most weeks we’re simply trying to make it to the next one, holding onto faith, hope, and a whole lot of prayer. But moments like today remind me that what we’re building is so much bigger than a business.
Sometimes I think I’m the one teaching them, but the truth is… they’re teaching me too. Devin reminded me today that even when I can’t always see it, this dream is changing lives—including mine.
So thank you. Thank you for every meal you buy, every post you share, every prayer you say, and every bit of support you give. You may think you’re just supporting a local food truck, but you’re helping create opportunities, build confidence, and change lives.
Thank you for letting me be raw and real for a minute.
We hope to see y’all this week. ❤️
