Can we get it done in a day? 🔨✨

Thanks to a generous Done in a Day grant from the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County, we are taking on a mission of women helping women by assembling brand-new furniture to add 8 to 10 additional beds to our existing shelter!

Every single bed built means a safe, warm, and secure place to sleep for single women and mothers with children experiencing homelessness right here in Gainesville, GA.

A huge thank you to the Junior League for investing in our vision, empowering our guests, and helping us expand our reach. We have the tools, we have the team, and we are ready to make a lasting impact - all in a single day!

There’s something about homemade cookies that feels like home. 🍪🤎

Today we celebrated National Homemade Cookie Day with a little sweetness at My Sister’s Place! Our residents came together to bake some peanut butter cookies, making their stay feel more like home.

A special thank-you to Trainz.com for donating the peanut butter that helped make these cookies possible! We are so grateful for the generosity of our community and the little moments of joy it helps create for the women and children we serve.

Want to make them at home? We’re sharing the recipe below! 👇

Lillian Carter’s Peanut Butter Cookies
1 cup sugar
1 cup peanut butter
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F.
Mix all four ingredients together until well combined.
Roll dough into walnut-sized balls.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Flatten each cookie slightly with a fork, making the classic criss-cross pattern.
Bake for 8–10 minutes, until lightly golden.
Let them cool before moving them—they’ll firm up as they cool. (add decor now)

Did you know that 83% of My Sister's Place participants exit the program into permanent, stable housing?

Per the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the national average is 34%. MSP is grateful to our community for equipping us to end homelessness for the women God entrusts to our care.

Hello, I’m Ava Nelson and I’m so excited to serve as a Belle for the Charity Ball this season. The Junior League Belle program is a youth leadership and community service initiative that pairs high school students with local nonprofit organizations to raise funds and awareness

My passion for service began at a young age while volunteering with the Junior League of Gainesville–Hall County. From packing diapers and food to sorting donated items, these experiences taught me the importance of giving back and inspired my commitment to supporting women and families. I am especially honored to represent My Sister’s Place.

I am a senior at East Forsyth High School, where I serve as Senior Class President, Beta Club President, FBLA President, Key Club Secretary, and Student Ambassador.

After graduation, I plan to study business and international relations while continuing to serve my community. I hope to make service a lifelong commitment.
