Pilgrimage to the Legacy Museum, Montgomery, AL
February 11 to 13, 2027
Hosted by: The Brotherhood of St. Andrew, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church

Join us for an impactful journey to the Equal Justice Institute’s (EGI’s) Legacy Sites that leaves Gainesville Thursday morning February 11, 2027, returning Saturday evening the 13th. This is an opportunity to become better informed of our shared racial history and gain insight on moving forward. At intervals we’ll pause to process our thoughts in facilitated dialogue circles, exploring how we can move embrace just treatment of all people. The Legacy sites have (5) components.
• THE MUSEUM — Visiting the Legacy Museum is a profound experience. Located on a site where Black people were forced to labor, it uses interactive media, sculpture, videography, and exhibits to immerse visitors in the sights and sounds of the slave trade, racial terror, the Jim Crow South, and the present day carceral system.
• MEMORIAL TO PEACE AND JUSTICE — More than 4,400 African American men, women and children were murdered by white mobs during the Jim Crow Era between 1877 and 1950. Millions more fled the South as refugees from racial terror. EJI’s Memorial to Peace and Justice is a sacred space for truth-telling and reflection about racial terror.
• FREEDOM SCULPTURE PARK — This immersive experience winds through a 17-acre site above the Alabama River. Using contemporary artworks, first-person narratives, and historical artifacts, the park reflects slavery’s gravity of loss while paying homage to the millions who rose above the oppression to love and hope for freedom along the way.
• MONTGOMERY SQUARE - Journey through the decade that changed the world in the place where history happened—from the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott to the 1965 Selma to Montgomery March that led to the Voting Rights Act. Learn how these strategic campaigns can prepare us to engage with today’s challenges.
• ALABAMA RIVER BOAT – Traveling by boat on the very same river where thousands of enslaved people were trafficked deepens appreciation of the trade of those persons.
COST:
BUS AND MUSEUM FEES - $150 per person. This includes transportation to/from Montgomery plus entrance fees to all Legacy Sites. Registration deadline is Sunday, November 1, 2026. Contributions exceeding $150 will fund pilgrimage scholarships.
