Josh's Story

Josh always strived to be the best that he could be. Before he left for boot camp, his mom marked the verse, Joshua 1:9 in his Bible. He found this verse during training and received a dog tag bearing the same verse upon graduation. He graduated ITB/SOI as PFC and was selected to train to be a recon Marine at Camp Pendleton. Josh died near the end of his first day of training, but hi

Lamentations 5 Jeremiah prayed for the nation because they were worn out from oppression. They were in deep despair so they could only cry out to God and confess their sin. He acknowledged the Lord rules forever and only He could save them.

Lamentations 4 God poured out His fierce anger on His own people to the point of starvation. There is no one more loving, but He is a warrior, perfectly just. He will complete the punishment He promised on His people and the rest of the world.

Lamentations 3 Jeremiah was God’s chosen and anointed prophet, but he still experienced wrath, correction, and despair. He maintained his hope in God’s nature and character in that He is faithful and compassionate. He is good to those who wait for him and seek Him.

Lamentations 2 God is loving and good but this chapter talks about His anger & wrath, like a consuming fire set against His own people, without restraint, for their sins. He will accomplish all His purposes. Israel is told to cry out to the Lord.

Lamentations 1 Jerusalem was once great but lost it all and became a slave full of grief with no one to comfort her. They sinned greatly and became unclean. Finally, they asked God to respond to their cries for help.

Jeremiah 52 Zedekiah did evil and rebelled. When he fled, the Chaldean army captured him and sentenced him. They took many away into exile. King Jehoiachin was finally shown favor and spent his final days in freedom with good food.

Jeremiah 51 Jeremiah prophesies that God will take vengeance on Babylon by sending invaders from the north to destroy them. He reminds God’s people that God has not forgotten them. God is sovereign. He used Babylon to punish Israel and Judah, then He fought against Babylon because of their sins.

Jeremiah 50 God said His people were like sheep led astray and lost, but He promised them hope through an eternal covenant when they sought Him. God promised vengeance on Babylon for their mistreatment of His people, for pride, and for idolatry.

Jeremiah 49 God promised judgement on the surrounding nations because of pride, idolatry, and for taking Israel’s land. God foretold disaster showing His power, sovereignty, justice, and jealousy; His kindness showed in His promise for restoration.

Seems like only yesterday…

Jeremiah 47-48 God promised judgement for Philistia and Moab because of pride, idolatry, and mocking God’s people. Even so, He promised to restore Moab in the latter days.
