Animals who find themselves having no place to go because they are too old, too ill, or too troubled ... find permanent love, dignity & respect at Second Chance Farm. Our sanctuary farm serves as a permanent home to animals of all species and we strive to provide each individual with an excellent, "home-style" rescue environment. We cater to special needs, elderly and behaviorally difficult critte

rs - which can be very challenging at times - but we feel it's a very important aspect of rescue work. Animals who find themselves having no place to go because they are too old, too ill, or too troubled ... find a home at Second Chance Farm. There are, unfortunately, many good-byes along the way and in addition to providing a comfortable and fulfilling life for our animals, we also strive to provide excellent quality, peaceful and compassionate end-of-life care. All of our residents receive very personal and individualized care in their final weeks, days, hours and minutes. It’s been awhile since our last post. We apologize. Life gets busy but we’re gonna try and get back in the saddle and start sending more frequent updates from the farm! Handsome Ollie, one of our livestock guardian dogs, agrees with a big smile that more updates are in order! Stay tuned!

In just four, all too short months, you stole our hearts, dropped the weight to get your ideal figure, got to actually run and play with the puppies, gained a dozen nicknames, loved and protected us as your family, and forever solidified a space in our hearts. As an added bonus, I am wildly lucky enough to say you picked me as your person, for which I can never repay you for such trust and loyalty.

Our final good night came quicker than we expected, but together we accomplished precisely what we set out to do for you: we got you healthy, we gave you all the love, and we made sure the time you had was filled with the dignity you deserved.

Rest now, my sweet Snow. And then have fun playing with the other kiddos on the other side of Rainbow Bridge. We cannot wait to see you again. We love you forever.

These gals may not yet realize it - but they just got a very lucky ride - perhaps the luckiest of their lives. These gals are “spent hens” from a commercial layer facility. They will be gradually integrated into our free range flock of chickens, ducks and turkeys. And then they will live their best lives 😊 Welcome to the farm ladies.

This is the face of an ecstatic sheep. Yep, it’s true. After almost 6 months of stall rest for a broken leg and then surgery to repair abdominal trauma, Shaun the sheep has finally re-joined his lady friends - the cows ❤️ Here’s hoping his little extra procedure (he was castrated at the same time as his abdominal surgery) serves him well and allows him to make better choices from here on out. 😆 Better choices made by Shaun = less risk for repeated injuries! Well done Shaun! If sheep could smile, I can tell that you’d be grinning ear to ear!
