Emergency Fundraiser for the Civic Media Center! You can send funds to Venmo: CMC4ever, PayPal: PayPal.me/cmc4ever, or check by mail to 433 S. Main Street. Hey ya’ll,
The CMC currently only has 500$ to make rent this month. We need to raise 1500$ before April 5th to keep our space open and operating.
We know during these uncertain times, it is hard to ask for funds knowing that there are so many people struggling and in need of economic support. We try to limit the barriers of access to the space by offering free and low-cost events.
The CMC is a space where we build up community. We house Books to Prisoners, Food not Bombs, Free Grocery Store, Free Store, Poetry Jam, Industrial Workers of the World, WGOT, and various community events throughout the month.
Our organizers do the best they can to put on events for the community and raise funds in the process, but we practice what we learn and do not push ourselves to the limits that capitalism demands of us. (and you shouldn’t either).
So, we are humbly asking our community, anyone who has done a show at the CMC, checked out a book, come through for a book club, a workshop, or an event, to please send 1$, 5$, or even 10$ to help us keep the space open and alive.
In a time where DIY grassroots spaces are closing left and right, it is crucial to keep a radical space open where people can express themselves openly and access knowledge and conversations that are hard to come by in an openly hostile state.
We have some incredible plans coming up this year to offer our community, but we can’t do that without a space that we get to define.
If you send 10$ or more you can become a member and we’ll send you a bumper sticker or magnet. Send a receipt of donation to [email protected] with your mailing address attached. (If you don’t want to send an address come in person and we can give you merch of your choosing).
Thank you for your time and continued support of the center. If you’d like to get more involved with the center beyond financial support you can plug in at a Volunteer meeting which are held every Wednesday at 7
