“The Moving Image: film co-op flyers; 1971-1972, Santa Fe, NM”

The Moving Image Film Co-Op screened films at various locations throughout Santa Fe, NM from 1971-1972. The group was made of filmmakers, visual artists, and community organizers. The co-ops mission was to “bring films not usually seen at a theatrical venue and to donate proceeds to film screening to local non-profits.”
The zine has some amazing flyer design and is perfect for graphic designers, artists, and event organizers to look at for inspiration.

Come out this Friday, July 17th from 6-7pm to the Lynx bookstore for this incredible author-led presentation and immigrant safety fundraiser. Learn about inspirational, grassroots community-based struggles for self determination, self defense, and autonomy in Mexico. This event is free of charge but will be collecting funds for a local Immigrant Safety Fund. Please make sure to RSVP with the link below!

Launched at the start of 2025, the Immigrant Safety Fund responds to the most immediate needs of families impacted by family separation in North Central Florida and the loss of household income. Funds have been used to cover legal expenses, rent assistance, medical and mental health services and more!

Weapons, Drugs, and Money is a creative non-fiction political economy and geopolitics textbook, written to be as accessible to academics as it is to non-academic community organizers. The purposes of the book are to first: take an in-depth historical and contemporary look at crime and corruption in the US/Mexico military-political economy; second: to demystify our understanding of neoliberalism; and third: to look at specific examples of grassroots liberation in Mexico through community-based self-determination, self-defense, and autonomy.

Simón Sedillo is a professor, community rights defense organizer, filmmaker, educator, artist, and author. Sedillo has contributed to the production of a wide variety of documentary films and investigative articles, which focus primarily on the effects of the neoliberal military political economy on indigenous communities, immigrant communities, and communities of color in the US and Mexico. Sedillo’s work more importantly focuses on how social movements, particularly in Indigenous communities in Mexico, are organizing and resisting neoliberalism.

Come on out and support Gainesville Free Store and the Civic Media Center by buying items from the estate of longtime Gainesville peace and justice organizer Jacque Betz, a beloved CMC member and supporter of Gainesville Free Store who passed away in late March.

Antiques and other furniture, electronics, framed prints and other artwork, knick knacks, tools, and a variety of other items will be available.
