We are an all-volunteer group of dog lovers who rescue and rehabilitate pit bull type dogs. We also do shelter and owner support and education and outreach projects. We have weekly adoption events at Petco (6869 W. in Gainesville) and at Earthwise Pet Jonesville (14029 W Newberry Rd. in Newberry) on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm, where you can meet our adoptable dogs. We are always looking for volunteers, including people who can provide foster homes, exercise and train dogs, volunteer at adoption events, help with fundraising, and contribute in other ways. Happy National Black Dog Month! 🖤🐾

We’re celebrating by highlighting a few of our very own amazing black dogs!

First up is Plato 🖤 This super sweet, playful, obedient, and gymnastic pup is still looking for a foster home! He’s ready to show you just how much love and fun he has to give. 🥰

Next is Thunder 🖤 A shy and sensitive boy with a HUGE heart full of love for his humans. Thunder is currently at Dog’s Play, where he’s getting some amazing training, but he’s ready for the next step: a foster home where he can truly blossom and show off his wonderful personality in a home of his own. 🏡❤️

🐾 The “Educating the Haters” Fundraiser 🐾

Recently, after we shared a post thanking one of our amazing calendar sponsors for supporting Plenty of Pit Bulls, the business began receiving complaints from members of the public simply for choosing to support a pit bull rescue.

Some of the messages suggested that organizations like Plenty of Pit Bulls should be encouraging behavioral euthanasia rather than marketing these dogs for adoption.

Thankfully the business continued to support us despite the negative feedback.

Sadly, this kind of sentiment is becoming increasingly common as we see a growing wave of pit bull hate and discrimination. And it’s exactly why our mission to educate matters.

At Plenty of Pit Bulls, we believe in changing minds one dog at a time. We want our incredible dogs to be ambassadors! Every day they show their families, neighbors, communities, and everyone they meet just how loving, loyal, and wonderful these dogs can be.

We know the best way to fight stereotypes is with education, experience, and amazing dogs who change hearts.

So, in the spirit of kindness, education, and second chances, we're launching a short-term “Educating the Haters” Fundraiser!

Your support helps us rescue dogs from overcrowded shelters, give them the training and care they need, find them loving homes, and continue educating our community about the individual dogs behind the label.
