The Gainesville Woman’s Club Entertainment Committee officially made a Run for the Roses at our Kentucky Derby social at Raise Your Glass for an afternoon of fun, fascinators, and friendly competition. Derby fashion was the focus of the day from DIY masterpieces to vintage Churchill Downs classics. The main event happened in the parking lot, where we had a high-stakes trivia horse race. Thank you to Daisy and her crew for taking such good care of us and to everyone who came out to mingle with our newest members.

Help us Cheer the Walkers as they continue their walk back to the Child Advocacy Center. We would love to have our membership and members of the community join us to welcome Lauren Book and the walkers for their first visit to the Gainesville Woman's Club!

The Walk will begin at Child Advocacy Center at 12:00 pm and head to Gainesville Woman’s Club with an arrival at about 1:15-1:30. We will have a friendship bracelet making area for anyone who would like to make a bracelet for themselves or to share with a walker.

The Lauren’s Kids foundation and thousands of walkers across the state will participate in the 2026 Walk in My Shoes 1,500-mile trek across Florida. April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and National Child Abuse Prevention Month — every step counts in the fight to prevent child sexual abuse and help survivors heal.
The Voices Project

This April, as part of the 2026 Walk in My Shoes, Lauren’s Kids is proud to launch The Voices Project — a powerful new awareness initiative dedicated to centering survivors by amplifying their voices.

Through anonymous, autobiographical audio recordings, survivors are invited to share their stories and messages in their own words and in their own voices. Family members and advocates are also welcome to participate.
Why Voices Matter:
The Voices Project is an oral history initiative designed to:

Raise awareness about the realities of sexual violence
Empower survivors and validate lived experiences
Educate the public that anyone can be impacted
Reinforce a simple truth: it’s okay to tell, and healing is possible

The Voices Project exists to remind the world that grooming and abuse do not discriminate — anyone can be a victim, and anyone can be a perpetrator, regardless of age, race, religion, socioeconomic status, or background.
