We had the lovely experience of welcoming UF students enrolled in their “Animal Stories” class right before they enter their animal agriculture unit! Students were very insightful and enjoyed getting to know our residents as the individuals they are 💜 Of course included lots of belly rubs with the pigs!
“Yesterday was the most awaited day for my course on "Animal Stories." I took my students to Creek Farm Sanctuary where they met 26 animals to learn their stories and also to write them. As part of the excursion, each student will be producing biographical cards for two of the animal residents, which the sanctuary will print (with funds from UF) and distribute to visitors as part of their educational program. We were able to count on the expert assistance of Katelyn Braglia, their Volunteer Coordinator and Humane Educator. I can't stress how knowledgeable and awesome Katelyn was --if you would like to help the sanctuary as a volunteer or sponsor, let me know and I'll put you in touch with her.
Students signed waivers authorizing the use of photos, so here are a few. Many are meeting cows and pigs for the very first time, which I hope will give them a different perspective as the course now shifts into the difficult terrain of animal agriculture, where animals cease to be perceived as individuals.” - Their Professor, Roger Maioli 💜
