The Iota Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Carrying the legacy of greatness with us everywhere! These illustrious ladies enhanced the campus with their spirit of sisterhood, scholarship, and service.

In 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha began to pave the way for change in history through sisterhood, scholarship, and service to all mankind. While the Sorority's pillars remain the same, Alpha Kappa Alpha is ever changing to continue to make a difference in the community! The Iota Lambda Chapter was chartered under the Eta Tau Omega Chapter on the campus of the University of Florida on May 17, 1975 by a gr

oup of young women known as the "25 Pearls of Distinction." Our chapter prides itself on campus leadership and scholarship, innovative programming, and maintaining an integral contribution in the surrounding Gainesville community. Standing 45 years strong, we continue to proudly paint the University of Florida campus salmon pink and apple green.

Under our National Program “Enhance Our Environment,” the Sisters of the Iota Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the Alpha Delta chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta Phi International Sorority, Incorporated collaborated for a roadside cleanup in Gainesville, Florida. Together, we were able to clean up our local streets to improve and protect our environment. We were also able to fellowship with one another and grow within our sisterhood through lunch!💗💜

This event supported those fighting Breast Cancer and celebrated those who have won the battle💪🏾💗

And that’s a wrap!📺💗

For our first episode, we learned about child hunger and food insecurity on a local and national level by cooking and assembling meals for a non-profit organization.

In our second episode, we gained a deeper understanding about civic engagement by learning how to write bills, creating a female assigned reproductive system, and highlighting the importance of voting at all levels.

We concluded the series by discussing how to accumulate long term wealth through stocks, flipping houses, and the metaverse.

Behind the scenes we enhanced our environment through weeding prevention and gardening maintenance. Lastly, we partnered up with , to write letters of support and feel better wishes for hospital patients.
•
Thank you so much to everyone who tuned in and participated in this week full of civic engagement, social justice, economic wealth, service and food insecurity education. Stay tuned for next season!
