Muchísimas gracias a todos los que vinieron ayer a honrar las vidas de Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, Joan Sebastián Guerrero y muchas otras personas que han sido asesinadas por ICE y por el inhumano y cruel sistema de inmigración de EE. UU. Mientras lamentamos la pérdida de nuestros mártires, ¡también lucharemos con todas nuestras fuerzas por los vivos! Es difícil y duro, pero por eso la comunidad es tan importante. Gracias por uniros ayer a nuestra comunidad local. Nos vemos pronto.

Acompáñanos este viernes, 17 de julio, 4-6:00pm, en una velada y un reunión comunitaria en Poultry Park para honrar la memoria de Lorenzo Salgado y Joan Sebastián Guerrero, dos padres que han sido asesinados a manos de los crueles agentes del ICE y del inhumano sistema de inmigración de EE. UU.

Aunque el objetivo de esta velada es honrar la vida de estos dos padres, durante este tiempo podemos honrar a todas y cada una de las personas que han sufrido a causa de esta agencia. Esto incluye la tragedia ocurrida recientemente en Florida, las muertes recientes bajo custodia del ICE y un sinfín de casos más que no han salido a la luz.

¡Mientras lamentamos la pérdida de los fallecidos, también debemos luchar con todas nuestras fuerzas por los vivos! También vamos a dar información sobre "Conoce tus derechos" y otra literatura. Tenemos velas eléctricas para repartir. Esperamos que se cuiden durante estos tiempos difíciles, y esperamos verlos este viernes para unirnos como comunidad.

Local community members saw cameras being put up at the warehouse in Oakwood that DHS is planning in converting into a detention center.

While Social Circle and DHS officials confirmed that the warehouse in the city of Social Circle, that warehouse will no longer go through and no detention center will be built there. The city of Oakwood has yet to confirm anything! Instead community members have seen cameras be set up at the warehouse in Oakwood.

The city of Oakwood needs to follow the city of Social Circle and SUE the Department of Homeland Security and ICE! The city of Oakwood also needs to pass a BAN on detention centers!

We call on Oakwood residents to make a public comment to demand the city of Oakwood sue DHS and ICE, and to pass a ban on detention centers! Remember, public comment can only be 3 minutes max. You can always directly email the Oakwood City Council as well!

The next Oakwood City Council meeting is on MONDAY, July 13th at 7:00pm! Bring signs, bring a public comment, we'll see you there🗣‼️

We were recently featured in an article in Courier GA by Colleen Hamilton about our work as The Rainbow Collective in opposing the Project Turbo data center and the Oakwood warehousw detention center. This is what people power looks like! We are deeply excited to continue doing the work in our community. Sooooo many thanks to all the hard working dedicated community members who've worked alongside us and who are apart of TRC. When we organize, we win!

Friday July 3rd at 7:00pm thru 11:00pm The Rainbow Collective is hosting Gainesville's first ever Adult Pride Prom at Blackstrap Rock Hall✨️

The category is ROYALTY so come dressed in your finest attire. We expect to see ELEGANCE, opulence, and most of all joyous QUEERNESS 🗣🌈

TRC will have free resources in the back and Equality Fest will have their photo booth. Local drag queens, kings, and things will make guest performances through the night.

Tag us in your prom proposals! We're so excited to see them.

BREAKING NEWS - The warehouse detention center in Social Circle is SCRAPPED! The City of Social Circle put out a statement yesterday, Thursday June the 18th, that DHS is no longer pursuing to have a detention center in the City of Social Circle. The City of Oakwood has not yet confirmed if that particular warehouse detention center has been scrapped as well. (But considering Oakwood was supposed to feed into Social Circle - we have high hopes it will!)

This is ONLY possible because of people power! Community members in Social Circle and leaders like Gareth organized relentlessly for months against the warehouse detention center. Working class people across the state assisted people in Social Circle (and have also done so here in Oakwood!) to oppose the detention center warehouses in the two Georgia cities. When we organize, WE WIN!

Power to the people!

No ICE in Social Circle! No ICE in Oakwood! No ICE anywhere!
