These are your finalists, in no particular order. 1st place for 6th-8th grades were awarded $150 each. Runners up for each grade were awarded $50 each. Additionally, the art department for the 1st place winners was awarded $300. We sincerely thank the students and teacher for their participation and look forward to seeing more great art next year.

Here is a look back in time, over 30 years ago, when Alachua County and the Veterans Memorial Committee entered into an agreement to construct and maintain Alachua County's Veterans Memorial Park. This was an agreement to faithfully continue to serve our Veterans and provide their loved ones with a special place to memorialize their veteran's sacrifice.

This is a truly empowering and transformative organization that mentors and educates our youth to become productive citizens. We would like to report that the construction for the new flag poles is on track to be dedicated during the Veterans Day celebration. Thank you to the Rotary Club of Gainesville Foundation, Inc. for your generous donation that made this happen. Other thanks to Billy Brame for the coordination efforts and architectural plans, Alachua County Parks and Open Space for coordinating efforts and lighting, Gainesville Garden Club for adopting the landscaped space, and Joyner Construction Partners for your work on the project and contribution to the VMC.

It is through the efforts of the community that we can keep the memories of our veterans alive.
