Established in 1987 to serve the counties of Alachua, Dixie, Gilchrist, Lafayette, and Levy, in North Central Florida. BMFB functions by acquiring, storing, and distributing food and basic essentials via the support of 170+ agency partners and over 500 community volunteers. We work to lead our community in the fight against hunger by increasing access to sufficient and nutritious food.

Did you know we serve a four-county area, Alachua, Gilchrist, Levy, and Union?

From Cedar Key to Hawthorne, Lake Butler to Micanopy, and everything in between, our team is coordinating food access across both dense urban centers and rural communities where resources can be miles apart.

Every day, we work to close those gaps so food can reach people consistently and efficiently.

Shout out to this CAMPUS USA team who joined us at Bread of the Mighty to sort through essential breads and dry goods. Their team-building experience turned into 2,201 neighbors fed! 🧡🌱

Did you know that in 2025, over 12,000 hours were donated by over 5,000 volunteers?

That’s equivalent to nearly 6 full-time employees working around the clock.

Without our volunteers, this work wouldn't be possible.

Every box packed, every pallet sorted, every car loaded moves food closer to someone who needs it.

That means a single volunteer shift can help provide hundreds of meals!

That’s the impact of showing up. Not once, but consistently, alongside neighbors who care about this community

Talk about "Fueling Good!" 🔥 A massive thank you to this awesome Gas South crew for spending their Tuesday morning with us!

During their shift, the team rolled up their sleeves and sorted:
🍞 2 full pallets of bread
📦 1.5 pallets of dry goods

Their efforts helped feed 2,324 neighbors in our community! 🧡

This was just the first of 5 volunteer shifts Gas South has scheduled with us during their "Fueling Good" summer of service.
