Bread of the Mighty Food Bank Our mission is to provide food, hope and encouragement to help nourish the hungry and food insecure i

Established in 1987 to serve the counties of Alachua, Dixie, Gilchrist, Lafayette, and Levy, in North Central Florida. BMFB functions by acquiring, storing, and distributing food and basic essentials via the support of 170+ agency partners and over 500 community volunteers. Volunteers are the heart of everything we do! 🧡✨

Behind every meal that makes it to a neighbor's table, there's a team of dedicated volunteers rolling up their sleeves to make a difference in our community.

Whether you come in with a company group, a friend, or on your own, your time and energy directly help nourish thousands of neighbors across our region.

To everyone who has ever stepped into our warehouse or joined us at a mobile distribution: thank you! 🙌📦

Helping your neighbors puts a big smile on your face. If you would like to get involved, visit breadofthemighty.org/volunteer to find a convenient shift for you.

Talk about a high-impact lunch break! 🥫✨

The students at Millhopper Montessori School stacked their lunch tables high with donations for their 22nd Annual Food Drive—and they blew us away.

Together, these amazing kids raised $1,351 and collected over 2,800 cans for Bread of the Mighty! Big congratulations to Teacher Anita Bender’s class for winning this year's coveted Golden Can Award! 🏆

As Ms. Bender put it: "Your donations, whether it’s a handful of change or a thousand cans, it all makes a difference."

Thank you to all the students, staff, and families who helped load up our truck. You’re making sure hearts and pantries are full across North Central Florida! 🧡

Did you know, last year we distributed over 2,738,000 lbs of produce?

That’s alongside protein, dairy, and shelf-stable foods that help round out a meal.

We work every day to make sure families have access to balanced, nutritious food, not just canned goods.

Because food isn’t just about filling a gap, it’s about supporting health, stability, and dignity. 🧡

Happy Friday!

Today we're shouting out the incredible crew from the Florida Leadership Academy!

🌟🏆These future leaders pulled double duty, filling both our AM and PM shifts to sort fresh produce, prep bakery items, and assemble pantry boxes for families across North Central Florida. 🍞🥕📦

Through their hard work, we helped 3,711 neighbors in just one day!

Huge thanks to the Florida Leadership Academy for bringing the energy, hustle, and heart to our warehouse. You all crushed it! 🧡✨

Stronger together! 🤝✨

A huge shoutout to the American Society for Microbiology at UF for volunteering their time alongside the incredible volunteers at St. Matthew’s Hitchcock this past Tuesday!

Their combined efforts served 200+ Alachua neighbors during a recent mobile pantry.

We are so grateful for student organizations and community partners who collaborate to tackle hunger right where it’s needed most.

Thank you, UF ASM and St. Matthew's Hitchcock, for making a real difference! 🧡 🐊
