Meet Strawberry πŸ“β€

When she arrived in our care, she was severely underweight and suffering from a devastating injury to her right hind leg. X-rays revealed a compound fracture, likely caused by a traumatic incident, and our veterinary team determined that amputation would be the best path forward for a pain-free future.

Despite everything she's been through, Strawberry hasn't let her circumstances define her. She has already gained weight, is doing well in foster care, and continues to show us just how resilient she is.

Your donation will support Strawberry's post-amputation recovery, medications, and rehabilitation she needs as she learns to live life on three legs. It will also help ensure that animals like Strawberry receive a second chance when they need it most.

Thank you for helping us give Strawberry the future she deserves.

Plus, when you donate, you will receive exclusive updates about her recovery process and journey to adoption!

🌑🚨 URGENT: Dog Fosters Needed 🚨🌑

Due to the extreme heat across North Central Florida, we have been forced to close our primary dog kennel area to keep our dogs safe. While all dogs in our care have been moved to climate-controlled spaces, this has significantly reduced our capacity.

Now more than ever, we need foster homes.

Every dog that goes into foster care opens up space for another animal in need and helps us continue supporting municipal shelters and rescue partners throughout our region.

FOSTERING SAVES LIVES! ❀ Even a short foster stay helps dogs decompress, learn about life in a home, and gives us valuable information that helps them find the right forever family.

WE PROVIDE EVERYTHING you need, including food, toys, beds, and medications.

Can't foster? Here are some other ways you can help!
🏠 Consider adopting, and be a forever home for a pup in need.
🐾 Take a dog our for the day through our Doggie Day Out program.
❀ Help Fund Our Renovations

Every foster home makes a difference. Every open kennel helps save another life. πŸ’™

New pet owners! Here are some tips to help you and your pet adjust to this exciting new chapter. 🐾

Every pet is different, but a little preparation can make the transition smoother for everyone.

🏠 Make the crate a happy place by rewarding your pet with treats and praise when they go inside. Crate training takes time, so be patient and consistent.

πŸ• Be patient with training. Your new pet is learning your routine, expectations, and environment. Building good habits doesn't happen overnight.

🦟 Keep up with monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention. In Florida, year-round prevention is one of the most important things you can do for your pet's health.

πŸ”Œ Pet-proof your home. Take a look around and remove anything your pet could chew, swallow, or get into trouble with.

πŸͺ₯ Brush their teeth! Dental disease is one of the most common health issues in pets, and regular brushing can help prevent serious problems later in life.

🩺 Establish care with a veterinarian as soon as possible. Regular veterinary care helps keep your pet healthy and allows you to catch potential issues early.

When you adopt from HSNCF, your first visit to the HSNCF Vaccine & Wellness Clinic within the first month is free, and your first visit to Newberry Animal Hospital within one week of adoption is also free.

Of course, we always recommend doing your research before bringing a pet home. A prepared pet parent is the best pet parent! πŸ’™

Look who is available for adoption!

Lizzy came to us at just 9 months old, missing most of her fur due to severe alopecia and demodectic mange, with scabs covering her body. This condition is caused by mites that overgrow when dogs are left outside for long periods and their immune systems are weakened.

Over the past several months, Lizzy has received medicated baths, individualized treatment, and plenty of love from our staff, volunteers, and fosters. Thanks to that care, she’s made an incredible recovery and is finally ready to find the forever home she’s been waiting for!

Lizzy has never met a stranger. She loves other dogs, enjoys running and playing outside, and is always ready for a good back scratch or cuddle session. She’s also housetrained, knows β€œsit,” β€œdown,” and β€œshake,” and loves carrying around her favorite toys.

If you’re interested in meeting her, complete an adoption application and stop by during our June Adoption Event Days!
