Meet John Thomas, aka , one of the incredible humans behind ! 🌱

John went vegetarian at 10 and vegan at 13, and he's spent the last 18 years bodybuilding to prove that strength and compassion aren't mutually exclusive.

He's a Gainesville native who's coached hundreds of athletes to build muscle, lose fat, and even step on bodybuilding stages, all while living cruelty-free.

One year ago, John founded with his partner and best friends while out on a hike. Since then, VSC has grown into a team of 20+ people across the globe, hosted 30+ live events in 10+ cities, helped dozens of people transition to vegan, and supported major activism efforts like the fight to shut down Ridglan Farms.

They've also launched to help vegan entrepreneurs thrive, because more vegan businesses means more accessible options, fewer animals suffering, and a healthier, more compassionate world for all of us.

John brings that same energy to , and we're so grateful to have him on the team 💚

Gainesville Veg Fest vendor spotlight: Frenchmen Street Food 🌶️

If you haven't tried Frenchmen Street Food yet, you're missing out!

They're the only fully vegan restaurant in Gainesville, and they're bringing all the New Orleans flavor without a single animal product. Cajun eats without the meat, and it does NOT disappoint.

Everything is made fresh in house, so you're getting that real Southern, spicy, tangy Cajun flavor from scratch. Some of our favorites:

🍚 Red Beans & Rice Bowl: Cajun red beans over rice, topped with a grilled Beyond sausage and brioche toast
🐟 Fried Catfish'd Sando: cornmeal breaded + fried tempeh with lettuce, pickle, and remoulade on a brioche bun
🥪 Po' Boys: piled high and packed with that Louisiana flavor

They serve the greater GNV area and pop up at events all over Florida, so keep an eye out for their truck!

We're so excited to have them as a vendor at Gainesville Veg Fest!
