Sun Country Dance Theatre

Sun Country Dance Theatre Founded in August 2008, Sun Country Dance Theatre (SCDT) is a Federal not-for-profit 501(c)(3) ballet-based pre-professional performing company.

Throughout each season, SCDT dancers perform at numerous community and charitable events, participate in educational outreach programs, attend and host master classes/workshops by guest teachers and choreographers, as well as present a formal spring concert as the culmination of each season. Our programs also include the premier of numerous works of choreography by both resident and guest choreogr

aphers, in highly diverse styles of dance. In the Spring of 2016, SCDT premiered their second original storyballet, “Hansel & Gretel”. In both the Spring of 2015 and 2016, professional dancers from Orlando Ballet shared the stage as Guest Artists. Many of our SCDT dancers have also received scholarships to study at some of our nation’s most prestigious summer intensives, including American Ballet Theatre, the Joffrey Ballet School in NYC, Atlanta Ballet, Next Generation Ballet, Central Florida Ballet, and the Orlando Ballet School. SCDT programs are funded in part by the City of Gainesville, Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Department.

🎓✨ Senior Spotlight: Adelle ✨🎓

For the past 9 years, Adelle has been a dedicated and talented member of Sun Country Dance Theatre, captivating audiences in countless featured roles and growing into a beautiful artist both on and off the stage. 💙

Adelle has trained with Dance Sun Country for 11 years in ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, tap, and clogging, with ballet always holding a special place in her heart. Throughout her years with our company, she has not only excelled as a performer, but also emerged as an incredible leader and role model for younger dancers.

This season, Adelle stepped into a new role as part of the faculty at Dance Sun Country—teaching afterschool dance at Oak Hall School and leading her own preballet and modern classes. Her passion for dance and dedication to inspiring others has made a lasting impact within our studio and company family.

Committed to continually growing as an artist, Adelle has attended numerous prestigious intensives and workshops including Orlando Ballet, Florida State University, UF & Santa Fe Young Dancers Workshops, and the Precision Dance Collective Workshop at Pace University in New York City, where she trained with Radio City Rockettes dancers. Most recently, she returned to NYC to study at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway with some of the industry’s top instructors. 🗽✨

Outside of dance, Adelle is graduating from Santa Fe High School after two years of dual enrollment at Santa Fe College and active involvement in the Santa Fe National Beta Club and community service.

This fall, Adelle will attend the University of Central Florida to study Environmental Engineering while continuing her dance training and performance opportunities. 🌟
