Last month, A few board members from Rock By The Sea and Ken Block, lead singer of Sister Hazel, met with Duane Mitchell, M.D., Ph.D., director of the University of Florida Health Cancer Institute, to present a check to support the groundbreaking research being done by the Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Program.

Rock by the Sea is dedicated to organizing music festivals and events to raise funds for direct services. Each event is an intimate showcase of music designed to bring people together for the love of music and supporting various programs.

Meet Emiliana, one of our newest Children's Miracle Network ambassadors at UF Health Shands Children's Hospital! 💃

In the summer of 2024, Emiliana was diagnosed with MOGAD, a rare autoimmune disorder that causes the immune system to attack nerves in the central nervous system. She spent 10 days at UF Health Shands Children's Hospital receiving treatment, including five days of high-dose IV steroids to reduce nerve inflammation. Before being discharged, she began a long steroid taper to prevent a relapse. With the help of occupational and physical therapy, Emiliana regained her ability to walk normally and fully recovered.

After months of doing well, she relapsed during the 2025 holiday break and was readmitted to Unit 44 where she received a second steroid taper. Today, she visits the UF Health Pediatric Infusion Center and Specialties Clinic monthly for IVIG infusions to reset her immune system.

Now 4 years old, Emiliana is a cheerleading star who loves Disney processes, coloring and painting. She finds comfort in her favorite doll, given as a gift from Child Life, and named it after the Disney princess from "Encanto," Mirabel! ❤️

Today is World Cerebral Palsy Day, and we're celebrating our Children's Miracle Network ambassador, Alyssa, and the millions of people worldwide who face their obstacles with strength and resilience! 💚

Born 14 weeks early, Alyssa's journey began in the NICU at UF Health Shands Children's Hospital, and her lengthy hospital admissions continued for more than 13 years until her care could be managed primarily at home. Today, thanks to her fighting spirit and the extraordinary care she received at our children's hospital, Alyssa can walk assisted with a walker, communicate with sign language and enjoys time riding therapy horses!

You can meet fellow survivors, hear about the future of proton therapy and research, and celebrate 20 years of progress with music, food, entertainment and special guests overlooking the Amelia Island marshlands.
