The Florida Trail Association builds, maintains, protects, and promotes the unique Florida National Scenic Trail (Florida Trail), along with a network of hiking trails throughout the state of Florida. Together with our partners, the Association provides opportunities for the public to contribute to meaningful volunteer work, engage in outdoor recreation, and participate in environmental education.

As an organization, we advocate for issues that further the interest of the Florida Trail and our mission. Your energy and opinions are highly valued and welcome here as long as they help us to uphold our commitment to welcoming and embracing all forms of diversity within our community of trail users, volunteers, members, staff, and partner organizations. To improve the dialogue on our account, we ask that you refrain from personal attacks, hate speech, bullying, promotions, spam, or harassment towards our moderators, other followers, or any individual. By maintaining a zero-tolerance approach, we reserve the right to remove content that might be found offensive or threatening or does not help us maintain a safe and inviting space for all.

National Trails Day 2026 was one for the books! ๐Ÿฅพ๐ŸŒฟ

The Apalachee Chapter celebrated at Camel Lake with two fantastic hikes, a lakeside picnic, and plenty of time to connect with like-minded folks. Hikers chose from the 7-mile Bonnet Pond hike or the family-friendly Camel Lake Loop, and everyone enjoyed a beautiful day in the Apalachicola National Forest.

After the hikes, everyone gathered for grilled hot dogs, a refreshing swim, and lots of laughter and trail stories.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make National Trails Day so memorable. We can't wait to see you at the next hike, paddle, campout, or chapter gathering! Be sure to keep an eye on the Apalachee Chapter Meetup page. https://www.meetup.com/apalachee-florida-trail-hiking/
