Congratulations, seniors! Youโ€™ve worked hard to get accepted into college and are one step closer to achieving your dreams. However, you may have noticed that the cost of college can be a significant burden, especially for students from underrepresented communities. Did you know that Black and African American college graduates owe an average of $25,000 more in student loan debt than White college graduates? That staggering statistic highlights the need for financial assistance to help students bridge the gap. To help address this issue, weโ€™re hosting a College and Scholarship Working Session at United Way on Wednesday, May 10 from 3-5p assisting students with completing their scholarship applications.

To join us please RSVP here:

As a co-author of this guide. I am excited to share it.

The purpose of this collaborative effort is to deepen our thinking and practice around how to hold space for authentic collaboration and inclusive community building with a focus on equity and multicultural anti-racist practices. Organizers from across the United States (Washington State, Arizona, California, Georgia, and Florida) who do grassroots community work grounded in racial equity and decolonization worked together collaboratively on this guide.

The work we do is vastly different, but our shared dedication to true inclusivity and participatory research methods made this collaboration powerful. It is my genuine hope that anyone reading this guide finds true value.

Today is the day that my 2nd born SunSon entered the ๐ŸŒŽ. Petey is 21 years old y'all.

This day is an important rite of passage for all the traditional reasons. However, it is even more special because it's Petey. AGAINST ALL ODDS, he is winning. Petey is a Black male of a single mama with multiple children that had little money. Petey is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Auditory Processing Disorder, and dyslexia.

I never thought I would see him read. He didn't learn until 7th grade. Yet, he has no criminal background and he is a high school graduate with a regular education diploma, has a specialized construction certification, and works a job that pays a living wage.

He loves harder and more consistently than anyone I have ever met. No matter what happens, he is not capable of being jaded by the world. His accomplishments are not notable to many because they don't know his story.

Being his mama prepared me to educate myself, work my a$$ off, and fight like hร—ll!!

I LOVE ME SOME PETEY!!

THIS ISSUE IS MUCH LARGER THAN ABORTION...

Black women in the U.S. are three to five times more likely to experience a pregnancy-related death than their white counterparts. This is not only a public health crisis but a moral one as well.

โ€œWhen it comes to our health, Black women suffer from the double-edged sword of racism and sexism baked into the healthcare industry. As Black women, healthcare professionals not only ignore us when we need help but, in the past, experimented on us while searching for cures. Indeed, the entire field of gynecology was birthed against our will on the backs and broken bodies of Black women.
