UF BGSO BGSO helps Black graduate and professional students foster meaningful and lasting relationships that aid in academic achievement and success.

The Black Graduate Student Organization was founded in 1975 by graduate and professional students at the University of Florida. This organization was created in order to provide a comfortable social, academic, and cultural outlet for Black graduate and professional students on a predominately white campus. BGSO provides many opportunities for graduate and professional students of African, Caribbea

n, and African-American descent to network with each other and become involved at UF and in the surrounding community. Forty years later, BGSO continues to unify students across disciplines while promoting excellence in teaching, research, and community endeavors.
