We’ve got news!!! After a year of helping people in Alachua County navigate their criminal defense cases, we’ve decided to update our clinic name from participatory defense to the CoDe Collective (pronounced co • dee). We wanted a name that better reflects the work we’re doing.

CoDe Collective stands for Community Defense Collective. Its also a play on words, because if you are accused of a crime, you may have a CoDefendant, or a CoDe.

When you come to our meetings, we are your co-conspirators in your defense against the state. Our goal is to ensure that you understand your case, you are able to navigate the legal process and can act during crucial points of intervention during the legal process. Additionally, we support you in advocating for yourself or loved one’s best possible outcome.

We’re honored to have participated in for the second year in a row with Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice !

For those who don’t know Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice (CSSJ) is a nationwide membership community of over 180,000 crime survivors who work together in chapters across the country to support each other, heal communities, and shape public safety policy.

Today, we were amongst over 500 crime survivors from around the state of Florida who mobilized to Tallahassee to demand healing centered solutions for communities.. NOW!

When , change happens! This year, we are championing three priorities:

1. Expanding Jacksonville Community Trauma Recovery Services
2. Right sizing Penalties for Low Level Probation Violations
3. Increase Access to Petition-Based Record Sealing

This event is always incredibly powerful and we look forward to growing and building a strong network in Gainesville to work towards healing in our community.
