The meetings were a change for friends and neighbors to get together, plan activities and promote their community. The first meetings were held in the houses of members. In September, 1964, the Methodist church consolidated with their sister church in Era. The club then began meeting in the Methodist church, was later purchased by the club, which continues to meet there today. In 1969, a kitchen a
rea with appliances was added by the club members, and in 1976 the building was equipped with indoor bathrooms. Through the years the Hood Community Club and its members have helped sponsor many community projects including yearly domino tournaments, picnics, hamburger supers, Christmas programs, and our annual Thanksgiving Turkey Supper. The faces, clothing, and hairstyles may have changed through the years, but the same general purpose of the Hood Community Club has remained the same – to serve the community, both individually, and as a group.
