Hey friends! We’re getting together for a volunteer trail work day at Bull Mountain in Dahlonega to get the trails ready for the upcoming Fool’s Gold race, and we’d love to have you join us! Come meet our Billy Goat!
When: Saturday August 29, 2026 9:30 AM–1:30 PM
Where: East Dam Trail parking lot/trailhead (aka Old Gamecheck parking lot) on Winding Stair Road, FS 77
We’ll be brushing back overgrown areas on the East Dam trail, Jones Ridge trail and the dam itself. All this rain has made these areas a jungle! We have some lopper and rakes. If you have a w**d eater with a metal brush blade or a hedge trimmer, feel free to bring it along.
What to bring:
• Helmet or hard hat is required by USFS
• Water and snacks/lunch
• Personal first-aid supplies
• Eye protection recommended
• Long pants and long sleeves are a good idea, closed toed shoes, gloves
A few quick safety notes: Please leave small handheld chainsaw-like cutters at home. Bees are out this time of year, so if you’re allergic, please come prepared and bring your EpiPen.

Unicoi State Park MTB trails will soon be rideable again! Northeast Georgia SORBA is half way finished clearing the 8 miles of trees on the xc trails. Once cleared, we hope to assess the trails and make a proposal to realign the eroding fall line sections. These trails are scenic running along Smith Creek and up on the adjacent ridges. And, an Olympic qualifying race was held her in 1995, just a year before the 1996 Atlanta Olympics! Get ready to check them out.

Let's celebrate National Trails Day, June 6, 2026. Meet us at the Jake Mtn Parking lot at Jake/Bull Trails at 10a.m. Bring your Helmet or hardhat (bike helmet is ok) water, gloves,trail food, and hiking shoes. We suggest safety glasses too. We provide the tools and MTB ATL/NGMBA is serving lunch afterwards. We will shuttle to Bull Mtn parking lot and hike to the Whoop Di Do trail for some much needed maintenance. Make new friends, have fun. It is time to give back to the trail you love!

MTB ATL and N GA MTB Assoc are cosponsors. Tools and lunch are provided. Please register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1990001300459 Bring your bike helmet or a hardhat, wear closed toed shoes, long pants, water and snacks. Meet at 10a.m. On Nimblewill Road in front of Nimblewill Church. Will have lunch ready around 2pm. We will shuttle to a location near the work site then walk in about a mile.
