Ninth District Opportunity, Inc. will be opening the cooling program to those households where every person in the home is 65 and older or medically homebound on April 1st, 2026 at 8:30am.

Everyone else who does not fit in the category above will need to wait until May 1st, 2026 to call for an appointment.

Please keep in mind that there is less money for the cooling program, it is first come, first serve & the wait lists will fill quickly. As always, should there be additional funding received, calls will be made to those clients on the wait list; however, it does not guarantee a spot.

01/02/2026

All counties are full for energy assistance appointments. Our waitlist only allows a limited number of spots. This is why it's very important to only put yourself on the waitlist one time.

Once the waitlist is full, we cannot make adjustments. Please continue to watch this page for updates on when we have more appointments or more waitlist availability.

The heating assistance appointment line opens up tomorrow, Monday December 1st at 8:30am for those over 65. The number to call to schedule an appointment is 855-636-3108 or you can go online at ndo.appointment.works/ea

REMINDERS:

- DO NOT go to any offices tomorrow asking if we can schedule your appointment for you. We cannot.
- Make sure you are choosing the correct county when scheduling.
- Do NOT call into the system during December if you are not 65 & do not meet the requirements. If you call into the system during the senior/elderly time frame, your appointment will be canceled without notice.
- Do not call the local offices and leave a message with your name & number thinking that gets you an appointment. It does not. You MUST call the appointment line number listed above or schedule on the website.
- Do not send a message on this page requesting an appointment. All appointments must be made via the scheduling information listed above.
- Do not call the scheduling line before 8:30am. In the past, the system has glitched and if you call early, it puts you on a "waiting list" that doesnt exist yet. And you can end up missing the chance at an appointment. (However, it is normal for their to already be a waiting list a couple hours after the system opens up)

The system will be extremely busy tomorrow. Have patience. Know ahead of time that you will most likely have to hang up & redial several times before getting through.

The scheduling system will open up to everyone else January 2nd, 2026 at 8:30am. n

Did you know? In 1982, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed October as National Head Start Awareness Month to honor the program’s impact.

Every October, we celebrate the children, educators, families, and communities who are part of our Head Start family. Since its founding in 1965, Head Start has provided high-quality education, health care, and family support to more than 40 million children and their families nationwide.

At NDO, we celebrate all who are involved with Head Start every October and throughout the year!
