SCAM ALERT PLEASE READ! Weeks ago, we were contacted by a couple that said they donate $2000.00 to nonprofits every year and chose us as the recipient this year. We received their check for $20,000. It was very suspicious. The they sent an email stating “they made a mistake so please send them $18,000 back. We checked with our bank that verified that it was a fake check but not a fake account and address that is for sale. These scammers stole someone’s info from their escrow company. We wasted a whole day going to the bank to make a report, the police, talking to the victim’s escrow and title company and really felt absolutely horrible because we were really counting on a donation. Please be careful out there. 😢

PSA! Please read! SCAM ALERT
Sanctuaries rely on the generosity of its supporters but we are also the target of scamers! Someone hacked a title company, an escrow account and got banking information in Minnesota. The scamer contacted us to send a $2000 donation but was nice enough to send a check for $20,000! We can now use the FAKE check to build a FAKE barn! We reached out to all the parties involved to let them know and filed police reports. Everyone please be careful with information in emails, phone calls, and offers too goot to be true!
