UCW along with other local unions and student groups came together during Black History month for a screening of At the River I Stand. We reflected on the struggle of black sanitation workers in the south and saw the power of a general strike!

As Dr. King astutely pointed out, all workers have dignity and worth! We see the connections of past struggles to today, coming off a massive national general strike on January 30th where workers across the nation shut it down. We must keep the momentum up and get organized!

Join us Wednesday, February 25th at 6pm to watch and discuss At the River I Stand. This documentary focuses on black sanitation workers’ struggle for dignity even when facing state violence.

This pivotal movement in Memphis was a microcosm of the social order within the US, which eventually drew the attention of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and MLK Jr. See the lessons learned of how this fight for an end to exploitation in the workplace bled into the national struggle for liberation of Black people and how that connects to state violence against minorities now via ICE.

Join your fellow workers Wednesday July 30th for dinner in person or virtualy as we organize against UF admin's attempt to end work from home. Now more than ever it is important to show UF that it cannot inact a policy that will increase the strain on us as workers in child-care, parking, traffic, contractual agreements for working arrangements among many other concerns without resistance! The university has those that advocate for it's interest so we as workers need something for ourselves. Unites Campus Workers as a union provides a unified voice that advocates for us with the support of a nation wide organization. Our power is in our numbers and our willingness to fight. The unions strength is measured in the effort we put in so invest in yourself now! Come out to make your concerns know and organize the FIGHT BACK!!!
