I want to take a moment to wish my good friend and fellow union leader, Heath Schmidt, a very Happy Birthday!

Heath, I can’t thank you enough for everything you have done, not only for me personally but for all the members of AFSCME Local 260.

Your dedication, hard work, loyalty, and willingness to stand up for what’s right never go unnoticed. Through the long hours, tough conversations, negotiations, and challenges we’ve faced, you’ve always been right there, ready to fight for our members and make a difference.

I’m truly grateful to have you by my side as our Vice President, but even more grateful to call you my friend.

Our hearts are heavy for the REACH Air Medical Services family following the tragic loss of REACH 16 near Catalina Island, California, on September 30.

The air medical community is a family, no matter the uniform, company, or location. When tragedy strikes one crew, it is felt throughout our entire community.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, coworkers, and loved ones of those who lost their lives. We are also keeping those who were injured, the missing patient and their loved ones, and everyone involved in the rescue and response in our thoughts.

To our brothers and sisters at REACH Air Medical Services and Global Medical Response — UF Health Local 260 stands with you during this incredibly difficult time.
