American Legion Post #797 In 2002 some 25 Veterans formed the Gahanna American Legion Post. The Gahanna Post is a part of the 12th District of Ohio.

In the years since, it’s grown to a membership of over 700, with awards for Best Website, best newsletter, and all-time high recruiting for 9 continuous years. American Legion Posts are formed under a charter from the American Legion Department of Ohio, which divides the state into Districts, much as the government does. Each District has a Headquarters, ours being in Columbus at the Veterans Memorial Building in Columbus, Ohio.

As a way to give back after the Wall left we donated and planted some beautiful mums in front of the VFW Post 4719 that were used at The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall visit. Thanks to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 797 for making this happen!! The flowers will provide years of beauty.

We officially closed the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall this morning. It is now headed for Maryland to help other Veterans, families and friends of our lost service members. Thank you all who visited and we hope that it's visit provided some level of healing and comfort.
