Do you live in or near Blacksburg? KNOW2 is opening a new FoodShare site there, and we're looking for one or two volunteers to help take orders and assist with deliveries.

FoodShare makes fresh produce available to Cherokee County residents every two weeks, with boxes available for just $5 with SNAP. Having local volunteers in Blacksburg can make it easier for more of our neighbors to get nutritious food close to home.

If you'd like to make a practical difference in your own community, we'd love to hear from you! Reach out to us at [email protected] to learn more.

Food insecurity is not just about hunger. It is a serious health risk.

Food-insecure older adults are:

💠19% more likely to have high blood pressure
💠71% more likely to have congestive heart failure
💠74% more likely to have diabetes
💠64% more likely to have experienced a heart attack

Nearly 14 million older Americans are threatened by or experiencing hunger. The impact goes far beyond an empty plate. It increases hospitalizations, worsens chronic conditions, and puts independence at risk.

Nutritious meals do more than satisfy hunger. They support heart health, stabilize blood sugar, and help seniors remain healthy at home.

That's one reason why KNOW2 powers the FoodShare Cherokee program, which brings fresh healthy produce into local homes every 2 weeks.

Right now, too many seniors are waiting for the nutrition and care they need. Together, we can help .

Donate today and be part of the solution.

Did you know that most volunteer roles at KNOW2 don't require any previous experience? Our volunteers keep local programs moving in many ways, including packing FoodShare boxes, taking orders, making deliveries, and helping at community events.

Neighborhood Ambassadors also play a big part. They attend one monthly meeting to learn about resources across Cherokee County and then share that information with their neighbors. Other volunteers support students and summer programming throughout the year.

Whether you have time for a single event shift or want to get involved every month, there's a role for your schedule.
