Keep Etowah Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, and non-profit focused on environmental education and community betterment.

Our educational programs focus on teaching children across the county about environmental stewardship and community pride. To become a Clean Campus School, schools must participate in Clean Campus judging, where their campus is evaluated for environmental cleanliness. Elementary schools must
also participate in our annual Water Festival, where fourth graders and their teachers from schools across the county engage in a day of learning about the water cycle and litter’s impact on our natural resources from high school volunteer presenters.

High schools and Middle schools must also participate in an annual social media campaign to create a PSA on the impact of litter on our community and natural resources. We also work with our community partners (including individual Municipalities, the Etowah County Sherif’s Department, corporate partners, and many more)
and the citizens of Etowah County to host both a land (Great American Cleanup) and river (Renew Our Rivers) clean-ups. Both events engage both citizens and community partners in removing litter and other debris from across the county and in the Coosa River. These programs not only promote environmental stewardship and conservation, but also a strong sense of community pride throughout the municipalities of Etowah County.

Keep Etowah Beautiful also works alongside the Etowah County Sherif’s Department on the Influence Program where Etowah County inmates are given the opportunity to work along the roadside throughout all of Etowah County to
remove litter and debris throughout the year.
