Recently Gadsden Rotary Club invited Tammy Burks, Senior Volunteer Specialist for American Red Cross covering a 25 county area across North and Central West Alabama. Not only does she lead the charge in recruiting and engaging amazing volunteers, but she also serves as the Regional Disaster Event Based Volunteer Lead, preparing teams for large scale responses. Thank you to Tammy for speaking to us and for all she does for the counties she serves in Alabama, bringing aid to individuals and families experiencing disasters.

💛⚙️ Thank you to Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama President & CEO Matt Holdbrooks for speaking recently about the incredible programs making a difference across our region, including the life changing E2 program, which helps individuals transform their lives and families through education and career opportunities! Tomorrow we will present a check to Mr. Holdbrooks for the E2 program featuring the proceeds raised from our fantastic Little Black Dress event that took place recently. Community partners are what makes it all happen and we are grateful to CFNEA for all they do.

Last week we were so pleased to present the 2026 Little Black Dress held at Gadsden Country Club. We are grateful to everyone who sponsored, donated items, volunteered, purchased tickets, or supported this event in any way. Our slate of celebrity waiters were incredible, and our room full of beautiful ladies were dazzling! We can’t wait to announce proceeds that will go to Community Foundation Of Northeast Alabama’s E2 program. We hope to announce next year‘s date late spring of next year!

We were thrilled to welcome two fantastic speakers from Gadsden State Community College recently! Dr. Julie White, Instructor and GSCC Alumni Association President, shared how easy and impactful it is to stay connected by joining the Alumni Association for just $20/year! And Hillary Folsom, Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation, highlighted the upcoming Cardinal Gala and how community donations directly provide vital resources and opportunities for our students. Thank you to both of these ladies for joining us and for what they do for students and the community!

We were proud to welcome Kirkland Back, a native of Gadsden and a proud product of our local public schools, to our meeting recently. As an Assistant District Attorney, Kirkland handles critical work for our community, prosecuting drug crimes and leading all of our Accountability Courts to help guide individuals toward rehabilitation and a fresh start. Thank you, Kirkland, for your hard work, your commitment to justice, and your service to the people of Etowah County!
