☀️ Now that it’s summer, It’s time to prepare for our 4th Annual Back to School Shoe Drive! 👟 👟

Our goal is to provide a NEW pair of shoes for all of our local foster, kinship, and adoptive children. This would be a great opportunity for youth groups, Sunday school classes, Girl & Boy Scouts, businesses, families, etc. to get involved and “Be the Village” in helping where we can. Together we can make a HUGE difference in our community!

Our goal is to have shoes collected and at our store no later than July 17th.

Who is ready to join us in this shoe drive to help ensure every one of these kids can be confident starting school with a brand new pair of shoes?

An Amazon wishlist will be posted in the coming days with some of the shoes needed. It will be updated throughtout the shoe drive as more shoe requests are received. We also have PayPal and Venmo if you had rather give a monetary donation toward the purchase of the shoes.

We are in need of more heavy duty 27 gallon storage totes to store off season clothes and shoes in. If you would like to purchase some or donate toward the purchase of them it would be greatly appreciated!
I’ve posted a screen shot of the ones we use. Walmart has them for $8.86 and Lowe’s has them for $9.98. If you want to purchase some online and have them delivered to me let me know and I can provide you with a delivery address.
Also, be in the lookout for a post about our annual back to school shoe drive. We will start that at the first of June.

Our Christmas shopping event will take place on December 10th, 12th, 17th, and 19th, offering a wide selection of brand new toys and gifts. This event is specifically designed for foster, kinship, or adoptive families in need. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment for one of these dates, please contact us via message.

Thank you to everyone that has donated so far! We have 25 wishlists and 30 coats covered. Let’s see if we can double that by the end of the week!!

As we enter this season of thanksgiving and giving, we invite you to join us in blessing children right here in our community through Gathering Hope Foster Closet.

Gathering Hope has been serving children in foster, kinship, and adoptive care since October 2022. In just two years, our ministry has provided clothing, shoes, toiletries, toys, diapers, formula, car seats, beds, blankets, baby gear, and school supplies to over 1,200 children across DeKalb, Jackson, Marshall, Cherokee, Etowah, and surrounding counties.

In October alone, we assisted 104 children—a powerful reminder that the need in our area continues to grow. This Christmas season, Gathering Hope is asking for the help of local churches, and caring families and businesses to meet two important needs:

🎁 Christmas Gift Sponsorships

There are 89 foster children in DeKalb County who need sponsors this Christmas. A sponsorship of $150 per child will help us to provide gifts for each of them, reminding each child they are loved and not forgotten.

🧥 Winter Coat Donations

These same children are also in need of new winter coats. Coats may be dropped off at Gathering Hope Foster Closet or ordered online off our Amazon wishlist (posted on our page) and it will ship directly to us. Or, if you prefer to shop at Walmart, Target or another retailer, we can provide you with the sizes needed.

All donations will need to be received by December 1st to ensure they are delivered to the families before Christmas.

Your support will bring hope and warmth to children who often face the holidays with uncertainty. Together, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who need it most.
