College is exciting. New people. New experiences. More freedom.

But with that freedom comes something else: more decisions that are yours to make.

What happens when you’re uncomfortable at a party?
What if a friend needs help?
What if someone ignores your boundaries?
What if you make a decision you regret?
What if you simply get a feeling that something isn’t right?

You don’t need to know exactly what to do in every situation.

But you should know that you can leave, say no, ask for help, and trust your instincts.

Another Child. Another Position of Trust. Another Reminder Why Prevention Matters.

A recent arrest in Bensalem Township has left many parents shaken.

According to the Bensalem Police Department, a school bus aide was arrested following an investigation into the reported sexual assault of a juvenile student.

Police say surveillance footage showed the aide repeatedly touching the child’s leg and inner thigh. Investigators also reported that the child tried to move away and protect herself, but the unwanted contact continued. Police further stated that the suspect appeared to be using a cellphone to record videos or take photographs during the incident and that additional concerning behavior was observed on the surveillance footage.

The suspect has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Corruption of Minors, and two counts of Indecent Assault. Police say he was arraigned, bail was set, and he was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.

Our hearts are with the child who had the courage to come forward. Reporting abuse is never easy, and every child deserves to be believed, protected, and supported.

This case is a powerful reminder that child safety extends beyond the classroom. Abuse can occur anywhere children are placed in the care of trusted adults. That’s why education, awareness, and prevention matter.

Teach children that they have the right to say “no” to unwanted touch. Encourage open conversations. Take every disclosure seriously.

Someone is buying a child.

Not tomorrow.

Not somewhere far away.

Right now.

While you read these words, a child somewhere is being exploited for someone else’s profit or sexual gratification.

It isn’t a scene from a movie.
It isn’t a story from decades ago.
It isn’t only happening in another country.

It is happening today.

The hardest truth to accept is this:

Children are not trafficked because they are invisible.

They are trafficked because someone chose to exploit them—and because too many adults don’t recognize the warning signs until it’s too late.

Human trafficking doesn’t begin with an abduction.

It often begins with trust.
A message.
A game.
A social media app.
A promise.
A secret.
A vulnerable child looking for connection.

That’s why prevention matters.

That’s why education matters.

That’s why conversations with our children matter.

Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
