This should stop us cold.

In 2025, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children received more than 113,500 reports of possible child s*x trafficking — a 323% increase from 2024. That is not a number we should be able to scroll past.

Behind every report is a child, a story, a life touched by exploitation.

This is why awareness matters.
This is why education matters.
This is why paying attention matters.

At Radiant Shepherd, we believe protecting children begins with recognizing what too often goes unseen. The more we understand the realities of exploitation, the better equipped we are to notice red flags, intervene earlier, and protect the vulnerable.

This is happening closer than most people think.

A Pennsylvania man has been charged following a months-long investigation involving the online targeting and exploitation of minors. Authorities say the case began with communication with a young individual and later uncovered additional victims. (Daily Voice)

Read that again.

It started with communication.

Not force.
Not abduction.

Connection.

This is what so many cases look like today—
messages, trust-building, and access happening quietly over time.

And often, by the time it becomes visible…
it’s already progressed.

We have to move beyond the idea that danger is obvious or distant.

A recent arrest in Hatboro, PA is a sobering reminder that child exploitation can happen in everyday places and situations.

According to reports, a man allegedly approached two young sisters and offered them money for photos of their feet. Investigators say the situation escalated when he attempted to arrange a meeting with the 15-year-old for $EX in exchange for money. Thankfully, law enforcement intervened and an arrest was made.

Cases like this remind us that exploitation often begins with seemingly small requests that escalate over time.

This is why awareness matters.

Parents, caregivers, and community members can help protect children by:
• Teaching kids about boundaries
• Encouraging them to speak up if someone makes them uncomfortable
• Taking every concern seriously

Protecting children is a responsibility we all share. When communities stay alert and informed, we make it harder for predators to operate.
